My dad is a type two diabetic and we are planning a trip for his bday in Dec. I have been looking at the menus on Allears and can't seem to find any sugar free desserts at any counter service or the few table service places I looked??

Am I correct or not looking in the right place?:confused3

I would check over at Pooh's corner. I vaguely remember seeing sugarfree desserts there.

I don't remember seeing anything at any of the table or counter service places last time I went. But, at the time I wasn't looking for sugar free either. Now that I am I would like to see what others say....so giving a bump. We ate at Minnies and I don't recall anything there either.

When we have gone with someone who is a type 1, the option we have usually been given the advice of "fruit" for a dessert. I can't remember anything sugar free.

I don't remember sugar-free options at any of the restaurants either. I second the candy shop suggestion though. I have definitely seen sugar-free options in the cases at each of the candy shops: Main Street, Pooh's Corner, and Marceline's in DtD. I expect they will have some of the same sugar-free offerings at the candy shop that will open (or re-open) this summer in DCA.

I haven't seen menus with sugar free desserts. The ice cream shop in DTD would probability have sugar-free ice cream. Maybe even the candy shop there too.

How does your dad control his diabetes? As he knows, a diabetic has a routine - balancing act to keep their blood glucose numbers in line. Are you familiar with his routine? He might need to have a fanny pack of some kind to carry his testing meter and supplies. Plus food/candy items in case his numbers go LOW.

You might find with the extra activity of walking around the parks, he might be okay eating an occasional dessert.

Have a fun and safe trip.

http://www.mouseplanet.com/9673/Sweet_summer_treats_at_the_Disneyland_Resort says the chocolate cake at the Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue is gluten- and sugar-free, though that was 9 months ago. I think there's a number to call for special dietary requests, but I don't know for sure. :confused3

I do know that sit-down restaurants have a much better record of addressing dietary requests than counter-service restaurants. (Though in your case it may not be as big of a difference, since the sugar thing is a balance, not an allergy, so a tiny bit of extra sugar won't cause the reaction that cross-contamination could cause in a counter-service restaurant.)

I also recall seeing no-sugar-added treats at Pooh Corner, but I don't recall what they were.

According to the Disneyland Blog....

All table service locations have sugar free cakes available upon request. It is best to give them advanced notice when making your ADR.

Please note that it might not be listed on the menu and there may also be other sugar free options available, but this is a bare minimum that is available at all table service locations.

The rest of this is based on our own personal experiences.....

There are a few counter service locations that have sugar free desserts.

Also, the candy shop on Main Street and the one at DCA (when it reopens) both have several sugar free candy options in their cases.

There are several sugar free candy options in the Goofy's Candy Company bagged candy as well.

And one more option is at Gardenwalk across from the CM parking, Rocky Mountain Chocolate factory has TONS of sugar free candy options.
