Does anyone know if the restaurants have sugar free desserts? Would I have to call each of the restaurants we have ADR's for and ask? We're going in Nov/Dec and our dinner reservations are at: Turf Club, Coral Reef, LeCellier, Restaurant Marakesh, San Angel Inn and Biergarten.

Thank you :)

Most do but is you call them they can give you the options and / or make you something else.

Just a word of warning...if you are looking for SF because of someone who is wanting to be careful of carbs, just because a dessert is SF does not mean it does not have carbs. As Mom of a boy with Type 1 Diabetes, we learned this early on and have found that most people are not aware of it.

I just went to Biergarten about two weeks ago. I asked the waiter if there were any sugar-free desserts on the buffet. He told me there weren't any out, but he might have some sugar-free cheesecake in the back. He came out a moment later with a massive slice, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite! (This coming from someone who formerly didn't think she liked cheesecake!)

While eating at the ABC Commissary in DHS, I found a "no sugar added" parfait, with some kind of custard, strawberries, and cream. It was pretty good too, though not as good as that cheesecake in Germany, in my opinion.

I believe the bakery in Norway also has a "no sugar added" chocolate mousse, though I've never tried it.

Yes, you do have to watch the carbs in a lot of food because other carbs can affect blood sugar levels, not just sugar... and "no sugar added" doesn't mean "no sugar" or "no carbs," but it still is probably less than similar full-sugar desserts.

It somewhat depends on an individual's body-type, but all the walking you do in the parks, combined with eating protein along with carbs, can help maintain lower blood sugar levels. (I basically ate just meat at the German buffet - all protein - before having that cheesecake, which may have helped.)

I learned a lot while I had gestational diabetes and did tons of research.

Now I've begun a low-carb way of life and have done more research. If I'm going to have an occassional treat, I'll try to have something "low sugar" or "no sugar added."

I have a friend with diabetes and he was able to find a lot of sugar free desserts when he was there.

Thank you all for your answers.

I rarely eat white carbs and don't eat any table sugar. I do eat fruit and have milk in small quantities but not every day. When I'm splurging I go for something sugar free but don't worry about the carbs since it's not something I do often. I'm careful with the "no sugar added" stuff since it normally has a lot of naturally occurring sugars like fruit and milk (12 gr of sugar per 8 ounces of milk :scared1: )

If anyone finds out about other SF desserts and such at WDW, please post! I'll do the same.

I'd love to try out some new things myself next time I go down.
