Such drama at our house last night!

The fish that died lived in a bowl with a plant on top. It often hid in the plant roots, and that’s why we didn’t notice that it was dead sooner.

So sad to hear about Bluey . Smart thinking child, another fish is a lot better than a rodent! {{{HUGS}}} to DS.

I do happen to have a hampster cage that I can clean without touching it but I like the Hampster so it is not much of a problem.
Don't you just love kids and the way there minds work!!! Great thinking about the unused fish food!!

Shades of "Mr. Feeney"!! (ask pumba about that one)

Sorry about Bluey, though. Our dearly deceased fish always got a "burial at sea" (ie. the toilet bowl).

Another fish would be nice. But some people have told me that a SNAKE is the most low-maintence pet -- just throw in a couple of flies or other bugs every week, and that's all!

We just have our dog, cat, and 3 fish . . .;)

A snake! GASP!

No way! At least a hamster would be cute looking. Snakes are not my idea of cute.

Sorry about DS's fish Janice

Yes, it hurts when a hampster bites. I broke up a fight between my son's 2 hampsters and one chomped down on my finger and didn't let go. My first reaction was to shake my hand, and the hampster flew off my finger into the wall! Not to mention all the times they manage to get out of their cage and now you have to find and catch it.

Stick with fish!

Our hermit crabs were pretty easy to care for. They are unfortunately more active at night, but my son liked his a lot.

We've had a green anole for 2 1/2 years. I personally think that may be a record for those little guys. They are fast and you have to be careful that they don't get loose. They eat tiny crickets and mealworms.

I also like gerbils better than hamsters. We had a gerbil for a while, but we would just shoo him into his ball when we wanted to clean his cage. DS was too young to hold him at that time, so he wasn't very tame.

I had mice growing up, but if you don't like rodents, well. . . :D Mine were black and white and were named Mickey and Minnie. They were great pets and very tame. They never bit me and I could carry Minnie in my pocket. I had her for years.

Have you thought about a bird? A parakeet might be fun and they aren't expensive. Good luck with the pet of choice!

Too bad about the fish. :(

Just curious, how long did the fish live? My mom has tried those fish with the plant things and the fish would only live a week or two at the most.
