a DH!

When we bought our APs for our upcoming Oct. trip, I pointed out to him that we now had admission paid for--for a full year.
He said, "Yeah, but we don't need to go there twice in one year, there are other places to go."
(Yeah, like Where?-says me to myself)

Anywho, now we are 65 days out from our upcoming trip and he is talking about going again in DECEMBER!!!

I'm soooo excited, I would have never believed this of him!

?Don't know if it's too crowded in the week following Christmas?

?Don't know if we can afford another trip so soon--however, it would be the kids Christmas present and I would otherwise need to spend money on gifts?

He said that if I decided it wasn't doable so soon, then maybe we could go again during kids Feb. break!

I can't believe this, I can't hardly type!

We have to drive, however, cause their are 7 of us and also I don't fly.

?Any Northerners think it is worth the long 46hr. roundtrip drive for four full days at disney?

What do my dis-friends think?
I told dh that I couldn't make any decisions about this until I consulted all of you!

It can be done...Come visit the budget board and we can show you the way...:p

I'm praying to convert my DH! He likes it enough when we are there but sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get him to agree! "There are so many other places to go. How about Kiawah Island?" This was the most recent discussion even though we just bought AP's in May & talked about making several trips to make the most of them at that time. Gotta love 'em!

My DH was successfully converted into a DH WDW Fanatic this trip. Although he always enjoyed WDWS trips he was never obsessed with planning and got tired of hearing about it. His favorite line was always "How much is this all costing". This trip we checked into POR (1st time at a moderate) then went to MK. DH looked at the GF and said - let's see if we can change back to GF! Suddenly he was saying, let's do this every year and let's always stay at GF. It was an amazing transformation. I think since it was his idea and he went and made all the arrangements, pixie dust hit him like a ton of bricks and he became more involved. I don't care how it happened - I'm just glad it did.

Okay, help me, then!
My husband is almost anti-Disney, although finally, after asking every so often if we could go, he agreed. (I was married before--I've gone as have my DS7 and DD12.)

So, this trip is the ONE chance I have to convert him into a DH. He has agreed to almost everything, except Cirque du Soleil (but he was too late, I had already purchased tix), and I think he is a bit excited.

I'm giving us 2 days at Epcot because I know he'll love the World Showcase and the F & W Festival.

Any other ideas to convert? Or, do I just wait at this point? I am completely organized for the trip==I have read every guide book and we're going off-season to decrease line times. If all goes well, I would like to do this trip every year.

All advice welcome!

And, oh, I think driving is worth it, but if you could make the time 5 days instead of 4, I think that would be better. I used to live in Cleve., Oh, and we did the drive a couple of times. I like driving, and with a minivan, at least, there is more room. Also, to be honest, there are no car rental issues, car seat issues, stroller rental/bring issues. . .I LIKE having my own car there.

my obsessive planning and preparations. Although, I rarely talk with him about all the plans.

He keeps saying how badly he needs a vacation and I remind him that it's only 64days away.

All he has to do is show up and relax (Oh and drive some of the way). He doesn't need to worry about hotels, or directions, or touring plans, or even money as all will be already stashed for the trip.

Also, he really appreciates little things...the small stuff...and WDW is full of that if you just take the time to educate yourself and look for it. He knows he won't get that at six flags. He hates rides, but loved all of them at WDW last time (1st trip since a very young child). He says they aren't "rides" they are more like "entertainment experiences."

My DH is a recent convert as well, even though we have taken many trips to WDW. He went because it made me happy. In March 2004 he had a convention in Orlando. So me and my DNeph. did the parks all day and DH joined us occasionally at night. After returning home, DH says he felt like he missed a lot by not being able to enjoy the parks with us all day. He suggested we return in November 2004.

I was shocked and wasn't sure about financing this. THE BUDGET BOARDS WERE WONDERFUL! After a few days on the Budget Boards I found we really could afford a second trip to WDW this year.

I am very excited about this as it will be our first adult only trip in 22 years.

Well, everything for us is paid for in advance--except for food. But, that will be the only outlay for the trip at this point, so that should not be too bad. Even the kids have their own spending money for this trip--and a lot of it--so that should be all set, too. . .not asking us for things.

I just found out something pretty good, though. . .I just talked to my husband's favorite cousin in MA (we're in TN), and mentioned our trip. He said that they go every year in Feb and would love for us to join them. . .that he goes because of his wife and kids, but if anything would make HIS trip more enjoyable, it would be my husband's company on their next trip! So, I immediately called my husband at work and mentioned this to him. He was so flattered (they haven't spent a lot of time together in years and years), and I could HEAR his mind working regarding a FEB trip. We'd rent one of those large multi-bedroom houses with a pool for the week if we went with them.

Anyways, it ALL depends on this trip.

I really believe that my hubby will just be amazed. He never liked rides either, but these ARE "experiences", not rides. IT would just be amazing if he discovers what we know.

I can't even imagine someone NOT loving WDW after they go--HOW CAN THAT BE? (not rhetorical--how can that be, REALLY?)

I'm not even sure how DH became a WDW Fanatic so quickly. Don't get me wrong he enjoyed Disney before but never wanted to be involved in the planning. I think when he went and arranged for us to move to GF (after only being checked into POR for a few hours) and we all acted like he was a big hero it built up his ego. And we all know how big a man's ego can be! LOL! I think when we got off that bus and looked over at GF he realized what a special time we had there before and it changed his whole outlook on the trip. Now we've only been home a few days and last night I saw him leafing through our Disney guidebooks and he was saying how we have to do this every year because our little ones won't stay little for long (we have grown children also) I realized that someone must have sent hime a whole ton of pixie dust. I'm just thrilled that he finally has my Disney fever.

We live in southern MN, I don't fly either, this has just all "happened" this way, but we "planned" on last December, (2003), then my brother asked if we would be a "Disney Guide" for his families first vacation in July, SO, we just went in July, THEN I mentioned to hubby how it would be so neat to go back this coming December, he agreed, SO, now we got AP's, THEN I said, GEE, we should use our passes again one more time before the expire, SO, therefore we are planning May 2005, THEN I decided to play this little "weightloss" game.

As long as we are going so often, I would come back right now, divide my "to lose" weight into 3, and lose 1/3 of my weight each time we go, WHICH means we MUST go a third time!!! SO, DH has agreed also to October 2005!!! I'm very excited since we will now be seeing the Flower and Garden Show and also the Wine and Food Festival and MNSSHP AND the special 50 year celebration next year!!! Also, my sister and friend would like to come one of those times. SO, if you don't call YOURSELF crazy, I'll not call MYSELF crazy, OR we'll just be crazy together!!! It's about a 45 hour round trip for us too.

We usually go for 4 nights and 5 days. So, when I saw "Wishes", I promised myself I would have 1/3 of my "to lose" weight gone, by the next time I see "Wishes", which is what I'm doing!!! We do take other vacations also though, we really like to travel!!!
