Substitutions available for CS desserts?

We would like to avoid getting too many desserts since we will be probably getting desserts with our TS meals. No one in my family eats that many sweets. Was just wondering whether they allow you to substitute perhaps a fruit cup or bag of carrots for dessert? If so, where could you do this? Do they allow a bottle of water in place of dessert?

I know the simplest thing would be to just not order dessert with counter service meals but since we are paying for the DP, I can't help but trying to get my moneys worth if you know what I mean. All of us are big fruit and veggie eaters so this would be a better way to go for us, if possible.

TIA

At Pecos Bill I received unsweetened applesauce instead of a brownie. If fruit is available, then you can have that as your CS dessert. We did that at the Land and the hotel food court.

We were there last week and ate at CHH. I was allowed to swap out the dessert for any other side item marked w/ the DP symbol so I selected cole slaw and a bag of chips. Two days later we ate there again and the CM told me I could only have the dessert or a bowl of grapes. Even after I told her I was allowed the substitution a few days earlier. So we took the grapes instead. I really tried to keep our lunchtime dessert consumption down.

We also ate at the ABC Commissary and were allowed to sub out for a fruit bowl or Haagan Daz IC bar. YUMMY!!

We substituted fruit cups or bowls of grapes at several different locations last week. I think if they have the fruit they will allow that substitution for dessert. The grapes were really good and everyone enjoyed them. If you like fruit, try the pineapple cups for snacks, very very good! We got some in AK at the fruit stand.

At Columbia Harbor House, we were able to substitute an extra bottle of water for dessert. We asked at every counter service after this and we were never able to do it again. If there was a prepackaged option...brownie, rice crispy treat, etc, we got one of these and just put it in our bag for later.

I guess it will always be best to just ask at ordering since some CM's may be more lenient than others. Good to know. Thank you.
