Subject of Dining...need input badly

What night is @ which place?

We've been on one DCL cruise (Wonder), but I didn't know you could have formal night in any other restaurant but the most formal one. I guess I kind of thought this because this was how it was on our cruise. I don't believe we asked for anything special, either.

Does anyone know how this would work, esp. if you had say...Parrot Cay for your formal night???

It all depends on what your seating rotation is on. The formal nights and such are set according to the day of the cruise not according to where you are dining that night. So you can possible be having your formal night in Parrot's Cay.

On the Magic:
On formal night, you dress up and go to the restaurant that is on your reservation. The same is for semi-formal night.
When you go to Lumieres, it is requested that you wear coat/tie for men, dressier outfit for women.

Could you eat Parrot Cay dressed in her nicest formal attire? Would they "up" the goods (food-wise) or could we be eating grilled cheese (extreme side) dressed in tuxes and gowns?

We were in Parrot Cay for formal night on our 7-night Western and it was terrific. The surroundings were very festive and we felt right at home in our formal-wear. On formal night the menu will correspond to whatever dining room you are in so if you are in PC you will have the PC menu (no grilled cheese - check www.dcltribute.com for the menus). Again, we didn't find this a problem and had a great time.

Personally, I think that it isn't worth it to choose a rotation based on where you will be on formal night. We were in what is considered to be the least formal of the restaurants and we had a ball.

We were in PC for our Formal night on NEw Year's Eve and we had a ball also.

I like to be eating "uptown" food, if I'm dressed in my "uptown goods".

We've eaten PC before and I really was teasing about the "grilled cheese" comment, it just wasn't my fav, Tritons was as I'm sure, Lumiere's will be this go around as well.

Now am I correct in assuming the formal nights ARE pre-assigned on the 7-day Western...? Is Sunday night formal and Thursday night semi-formal???

I am not sure if this is entirely correct. I am sure someone will sound in to help me if i've got this wrong ... but this is my understanding:

For the 7-day Eastern:
For Formal night on the 7-day cruise the menu is "Master Chef" series and is the same menu for everyone, regardless of which restaurant you are in. And on semi-formal night the menu is "Captain's Gala" for everyone (again regardless of the restaurant).

For the 7-day Western:
For Formal night you are in your rotation restaurant and eat that restaurant's food (so yes, you could be dolled up sitting in Parrot Cay eating from their menu). But on semi-formal night everyone has the same menu (Captain's Gala) regardless of the restaurant.
