Styx

You were only born in 1983?!?!?!?!?!? Geez Louise, you're still a baby! I graduated from high school that year.
Anyway, in my opinion STYX had passed their prime by the '80's. I think I listened to them in about '77-'79. However, I am old and perhaps my memory isn't what it used to be.:o

Mr. Roboto... (I had that on 8 track) was also used as music in a VW commercial last year..... you may remember that...

Holy cow, holycow! My first concert was styx also.
Me too!
My first concert was STYX 'Grand Illusion' oh in '77/'78/'79/...hmmm, not sure!
I also graduated in 1983!

Sounds like a great show!

First concert I saw was Journey in 1986. Steve Perry was still with them then, and the bass player on their tour was Randy Jackson of American Idol.

The most recent concert DW and I saw was Styx and REO Speedwagon last September as they closed out their tour. Unfortunately Dennis DeYoung (the lead vocal on Babe, Mr. Roboto, and Come Sail Away) has left Styx but the new guy sounds a lot like him. Tommy Shaw (lead vocal on Renegade, Too Much Time On My Hands, Crystal Ball) and James Young (lead vocal on Snowblind and Miss America) are still with the band.

Can you tell I'm a huge Styx fan? :teeth: I think one thing I liked about them was they shared the lead vocals among three of their members. It may seem inconsistent, but it made them distinctive, IMO.

Lady was popular in 75-76...I remeber because I was Jr or Sr in high school and we used to drive around blasting that song The girls I hung out with drifted apart the summer of 76.

I would love to see that show...I've seen Journey twice, Styx probably 3 or 4 times but never REO.

I like the Styx song Lorelie...my friend was going to name her daughter that when she got married and had kids...I wonder if she did!

I saw REO in 1981 and 1983--the opener for that one was Survivor!
Saw Styx twice in 1996 with Dennis DeYoung--don't know if I'd pay to see them without him--"Lady" was my "song" for my hs boyfriend.
Never saw Journey w/ Steve Perry, unfortunately. I am so cheap these days (saving for Disney trips) I don't want to pay to see band with "faux" singers, no matter how good.

I remember being really excited because I got their new album (Styx) - didn't it have some special engraving - holographic ?

I remember when I went to WDW the first time, Mr. Roboto was the most played song our group listened to (it was a marching band trip). I love Styx.:) Their song Lady was one of my favorites of theirs.:)

Styx played somewhere that my dh had attended I just can't remember - either his high school homecoming or prom or sometime when he was in college. But I'm thinking it was high school homecoming.

We are Styx fans also and Paradise was our wedding song.

I would love to see that. :)

The song, Lady, is a favorite of mine too.

Lady, when you're with me I'm smiling
Give me all your love
Your hands build me up when I'm sinking
Touch me and my troubles all fade
Lady, from the moment I saw you
Standing all alone
You gave all the love that I needed
So shy, like a child who has grown

Cause you're my lady of the morning
Love shines in your eyes
Sparkling, clear, and lovely
You're my lady

Lady, turns me on when I'm lonely
Give me all your charm
Evenings when she lays down beside me
She takes me gently into her arms

Lady of the morning
Love shines in your eyes
Sparkling, clear, and lovely
You're my lady

Lady of the morning
Love shines in your eyes
Sparkling, clear, and lovely
You're my ... lady

LOL!

You guys are great! I would have never guessed that STYX was that HUGE!

Like I said, I love music, and all kinds at that! It's amazing to me that of all the songs listed on here, the only one that I know is Mr. Roboto which is of course off of the VW comercial!

I feel like an idiot! I have seen everyone from Cher to Lenny Kravitz. I try not to limit myself to just one "type" of music. Tomorrow night I'm going to go see Tim McGraw, but I think the next month or so is going to be downloading as many STYX songs that I can find. I hate going to a concert and only knowing like 1 or 2 songs from the group. It's such a waste of money and you don't get the full concert experience.

Thanks for Everything!!! I'm going to do my STYX homework now ;)

How could you all forget "Too Much Time On My Hands" ??
