I'm a seasoned DW visitor and usually stay on site since things are so far apart and b/c of EMH.

Going to DL for first time M-W of president's week '12. As tues is only Extra hr morning and one extra hour morning is included in the 3 day tix, and many of the off site hotels are litterally in a short walk distance to DL park (some as close as on site properties) entrance, and of course there (hopefully) is a cost saving by staying offsite...is there any real bennefit to staying on site during my stay at DL? (Additional consideration 3 small kids).

Also is 3 days enough to cover both parks?

The family and I went to DL 8/10 for 3 days. We went to California Adventure the first day. Got there around 1 pm, as we flew in that morning from NC. Stayed until closing and saw World of Color (loved, loved, loved it! A Must See). Went to Disneyland Park for full day next day, and then back to Calif Adventure the third day until around 4 pm. Left and drove to Vegas. I felt like we had plenty of time to see Must Do's. If you have 3 full days, I think you should be fine.

Although we stayed onsite, the hotels in that area, generally, are really close by. California Adventure and Disneyland Park are literally across the courtyard from each other. They share the same ticket booths, as I recall. I was amazed at how close they were.

Have fun! :)

Stay offsite and pay about a third of onsite rate. Since you can't benefit from any additional MMs there really isn't any "advantage".

I agree with 3Minnies1Mickey. Stay offsite for much less. Plus, most of the off site facilities have both fridge and microwaves in the rooms which make is nice for saving money by eating in the room. Several have continental breakfast so that is nice (save money) and they are just as close as PPH and DLH for sure.

I think you will be fine for 3 days. We went for 3 days in February and then went for 6 days a couple weeks ago. Both times we kept ourselves busy. You can what you want to see in 3 days but you will most likely not be able to see every single thing there is in 3 days especially if you go during a busy time of year and having 3 small children.

Don't forget to take advantage of the rider/baby swap option for those rides that some of your kids are big enough for but the others are not. Many parents do not know about it and miss out on some of the rides because someone has to stay out with the small ones.
