Sturgis Motorcycle Rally...HUGE Crowds expected

So those of you who keep saying "the majority of the protesters wore masks" were at every single protest around the country. That's pretty impressive, you all must be exhausted.
How about the rioters, were the majority of them wearing masks?

Events like Sturgis just make me cringe. I wish there was a way to isolate these people so those who choose to take risks are completely independent of anyone else. I don’t understand how people cannot see this connection and think this only affects them.

I am also so tired of the constant harping on the protests, and the comments of “I guess you’re only allowed to gather if it’s for protests or riots.” At the time the protests were happening the most, I definitely did not think they were a good idea. I also distinctly remember Dr. Fauci commenting on how the protests were a “perfect storm” for the virus to spread. It’s not like everyone was completely ignoring it during that time (although it definitely got less media attention for a bit). It’s just that going to a protest for civil rights is different than attending an event like a motorcycle rally because “but my FREEDOMS” and “screw Covid.” Not all, but a large number of protest attendees at least were aware of the virus. These people in Sturgis or at lake parties or whatever just don’t care.

Exactly and the disrespect this shows to the healthcare workers.

i think it’s stupid what they are doing at this time. What do you say about the doctors and nurses that are there. Some was probably even on the frontline.

If someone in my family was going to Sturgis, they would not be coming back into my home. You have to protect yourself from these people. At this point it is clear that no one else is going to do it - we have to protect ourselves.

I would take the same precautions but you also have interactions at grocery stores or at work. I'm going to guess the types that are willing to go to Sturgis without wearing a mask aren't great about wearing a mask elsewhere.

There are plenty of photos/videos from these events. I'm not going to say everyone was wearing a mask but it seemed to be pretty common in everything I've seen.

I can't say the same for the images/videos from Sturgis thus far.

Fwiw, I am not personally going to attend either because I think both are too risky. I just think it's a false comparison to claim the two events are similar.

Medical professionals are also divided on their beliefs about covid-19. Maybe not those in covid wards, but others certainly are.

I agree. I have participated in many BLM marches in the past, but not during the pandemic.

My wife's cousin is a doctor and she kept seeing patients even when she knew that she had been infected. She did so until she showed symptoms and was forced to be tested by her boss.

Being a doctor doesn't inoculate you from the brain washing that Americans endure daily if they watch too much TV or listen to talk radio. That stuff is poison.

This is the problem....a biker convention crowd tends to spend a lot of time indoors....in bars. This one will not end well.

And this (bolded) is exactly the problem. Covid doesn’t magically know the purpose of a mass gathering and decide to stay away. And that is why people are sick and tired of leaders and the media encouraging protests and riots while scolding everyone else when they decide to gather en masse. It makes them look like big flaming hypocrites.

Maybe they will discover that inhaling motorcycle exhaust kills the virus and it will be the new cure. (I’m kidding. I’m actually livid that people are going to be bringing COVID back to their communities.)
