Yep - thanks China.
Did we get conquered while I was asleep awhile back or something? How was it China's job to stop a motorcycle party in South Dakota?

You must have been asleep for months because it is known to have originated in Wuhan, China. Grab some coffee, you may be in for a long ride catching up. HahaDid we get conquered while I was asleep awhile back or something? How was it China's job to stop a motorcycle party in South Dakota?
Seems remarkably accurate to me. You're nearly at 200,000 deaths now, if lockdowns/social distancing/masks had not happened 1.7 million by end of pandemic seems a perfectly possible number to me. Thankfully lockdowns/distancing/masks etc did happen.https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/13/us/coronavirus-deaths-estimate.html
Sorry - it was the CDC...
"Between 160 million and 214 million people in the United States could be infected over the course of the epidemic, according to a projection that encompasses the range of the four scenarios. That could last months or even over a year, with infections concentrated in shorter periods, staggered across time in different communities, experts said. As many as 200,000 to 1.7 million people could die".
It also means they seem to be completely abandoning the concept of test and trace completely - not that many states were doing it well anyway. The change in guidance from the CDC this week was to say that if you believe you have been exposed to someone who is Covid positive, that you only need to be tested if you are symptomatic. Which means that all the asymptomatic spreaders are free to go about their business. Another extremely irksome aspect of this ridiculousness is that this appears to have happened due to pressure from the White House.

Oh sure thankfully pummeling small businesses out and wearing a t-shirt on our faces were exactly the miracle combo we needed. [sarcasm]Seems remarkably accurate to me. Not conclusively it hasnt. You must have been asleep for months because it is known to have originated in Wuhan, China. Grab some coffee, you may be in for a long ride catching up. Haha
You would have preferred 1.7 million dead? Wow.Oh sure thankfully pummeling small businesses out and wearing a t-shirt on our faces were exactly the miracle combo we needed. [sarcasm]
You would have preferred 1.7 million dead? Wow.
And yet I just said the model seemed to be remarkably accurate.Where did I say that? How about this modelling was way off and we would have never approached those numbers?
Not conclusively it hasnt.
Did you miss how there was evidence of it in Europe late last year before the China outbreak really took hold.
And yet I just said the model seemed to be remarkably accurate.
You didn't answer my question. So I guess I'll have to answer it myself. It isn't China's job to stop a motorcycle rally in South Dakota. You must have been asleep for months because it is known to have originated in Wuhan, China. Grab some coffee, you may be in for a long ride catching up. Haha
Finding traces in the sewage in Europe to concluding it came from people who travelled to China is quite an assumption for which I would love to see what evidence you are basing that on.From people who....wait for it....traveled from China. To be conclusive we would need to investigate in China. Unfortunately they seem to have something to hide and won't allow anyone in.

And while you're busy evading that question, here is another one for you to completely evade. At what point when we have had over 6,000,000 cases do we stop blaming them for all those extra cases we have and start blaming our response? After all, we had two months more than they did to react. Blaming China at this point is like the player that bricks 6 free throws in a row that could have iced the game and then says that one foul the refs called on him with 10 seconds to go cost him the game.
If you want.Seems we have a difference of opinion. I'll agree to disagree.
Oh sure thankfully pummeling small businesses out and wearing a t-shirt on our faces were exactly the miracle combo we needed. [sarcasm]
The fault of this in the US lies with the US. Hoping for the best with no national strategy was a mistake. It didn't just go away after all.
We are at no more than 30% capacity in restaurants (as one example). Sure I can go there but I imagine that still impacts their livelihood. What small business can you not patronize right now? In my area, the only places of business that I can think of that are still not open for any kind of business are hair/nail salons and gyms.
To some, this apparently means the country is effectively “shutdown.”
Even with all the other small businesses open, customers are just choosing not to frequent them as much as before for personal reasons. Their lack of business has nothing to do because of government restrictions.
China misled the WHO (as incompetent as they are anyway) about human transmission. We have examples of varying approaches around the world. I’d be curious which one you would have rather we followed. The armchair quarterbacking is tiresome.
