Three Things...Gratitude Thread

I don't do it all the time, but I love fancy and will often find some ways to make even casual a bit fancy.

Sequined, beaded, rhinestone adorned dresses - Between myself, DD19, my mom and my grandmother, I have so many special memories involving sparkly dresses. While DD19 has stepped away from her sorority, I was so happy to see her prom gown get a few uses. Part of why we splurged on that gown was so that she had something suitable for formals. I'd borrow it for no good reason if she let me. It looks like stained glass flowers made of crystal beads and sequins.

Dinnerware - I don't get to do it often...primarily because putting the china cabinet back together is a chore, but I love to use the china, sterling, and crystal. It makes me feel like a queen in my own home.

Tiaras and Crowns - speaking of queens!!! I'm in the market for some new headgear. I used to have a few pretty pretty crowns and tiaras (for various reasons). Sometimes I'd just wear them around the house because you just feel a little extra special wearing a sparkly fancy headpiece. I bought a new one over the weekend but had to return it because it arrived broken. I'm doing a Divas race at the end of April and while they give everyone a tiara, I wanted something more unique. So, back to the drawing board.

Side gratitude to jewelry. I skipped it because it's more obvious, but the right mix can make me feel super fancy and special.

DD has several tiaras from dance competitions that she likes to wear 'just because.' She admired a tiara at a Nutcracker production last December; I sneakily bought it for her, and my Christmas shopping was done!

TUXEDOS - I love seeing men in tuxedos, especially my DH.
I second this. DH and DS both have them for Masonic events, and they look very handsome all dressed up together.

Also another vote for fancy dishes. We have things from both my and DH's paternal grandmothers, and it's nice to have that connection.

The ability to buy "fancy" party food (veggie trays, etc.) when I'm too busy to make them myself.

Evening all,

1. Fancy food - I love food and will happily eat anything from a sausage roll to a cheeky McDonald's, but I also enjoy going out for fancy food. Whether it be an upmarket restaurant in general or a full on tasting menu.

2. Fancy clothes - again like some of you, I live in comfy clothes like leggings most of the time. But on occasion I really do enjoy being able to dress up and wear something fancy like a nice dress or gown.

3. Private number/registration plates - depending on who you ask, private car number plates can be seen as fancy over here. Although they can also be seen as pretentious 😂 I've had mine for a number of years now and while i wouldn't say its too flash and certainly not pretentious, I like having something that is unique to me on my car.

Afternoon all,

1. Easter food - I enjoy having nice meals over Easter, never one to shy away from good food. I also enjoy Easter chocolates to a point, but only close to Easter itself. Shops over here start selling these after christmas which is a bit much!

2. Better, warmer weather - in theory April should mean warmer and better weather as we're heading towards summer. Doesn't always work out like this in the UK with April showers but the thought or promise of better weather makes it a better month!

3. Holiday time - last but certainly not least, I fly to Orlando on 30th April to start a week in Universal before heading to WDW for a week on 7th May. I've been counting down to this holiday for months and now it's nearly here! I cannot wait and I really need the break from work too. I finish work on 28th April and not back in until the 19th May :cheer2:

I'm going to pick this April, specifically...

Family Weekend - Mid month, we're going up to OK for family weekend at OU. So, we should have some fun times with DD19 and even some of her friends. I'm also hoping to see the new house they'll be renting.

DH's Birthday - It's right before family weekend, so we're going to go out in Oklahoma. It looks like one of DD19s friends and her family will also be joining in on the fun. Normally I am the one making the cake, but I think we're going to order something up there. I'm torn between a pretty pink cake with lots of flowers vs. another one with lots of ruffles and piped border work. There's also a hot pink option that comes with disco balls, but that might be too much for me.

Parent Visit - The week after we get back from OK, my parents are flying into Texas for several days. So, we should have some nice family time together. I have a half marathon the day they're flying home, but I'm hoping packet pickup is down in Galveston (race site) so we can have a nice day down along the Gulf.

Well we have crazy weather so we could have tornadoes one day and snow in the next so you could go get your spring flowers they may freeze to death or they may get blown away you just never know🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ the rule of thumb is to really wait until Mother’s Day but none of us do because as soon as it starts warming up we go get flowers and then we just move them in and out of our garage🤣🤣🤣 unless they’re planted in the ground and then we just hope for the best🤞

I like April because all the birds are back the rabbits are back the grass has started to grow the trees are blossoming everything‘s not dead anymore I wish the bugs were but that is not the case
Gotta take the good with the bad
Just get through this month and we’ll be clear of any chance of snow very rare we get snow in May
Baseball season has started!!! so the boys of summer are back things are looking up
