stupid parents..kid left alone

Oh wow, guess I'll just say I completely disagree with you. So does every reputable medical association on the planet. I won't go in to all my personal stories, but I will say I do have health problems thanks to growing up with smoking family members. Proven fact that second hand smoke causes health problems (if not early on, decades later in life). I support ALL the laws against smoking. Sorry, something I feel strongly about, since I was personally effected by someone else's habit. :rolleyes1 - Getting off soapbox now.

well im sorry you got sick and I know it happines but not all the time. and im so tierd of americas docters and studdys taking away our freedoms. if i want to smoke i will and if some one calls me a bad mom well. i may not be abel to hold my self back. My mom smoked when pg becouse it wasnt a big deal atthe time..i was born healthy and fine. (when my sister was born it was know dont smoke and she didnt(i think)

Any ways ppl have there oppinions if ppl dont want to smoke thats fine but for those who do..well so what if we chose to its our choice. this is supose to be the land of freedom, freedom to talk freedom of religion freedom to raise our kids the way we want and freedom to do what we want as long as not agest the law..and all these new laws are redicules..let ppl do what they want
(off soap box now)
I do know ppl get sick i have seen it first hand but if he chose to do it *shurgs* im also sorry to those who have it secound hand that is sad.

Yes of course anyone has that choice. But I also have the freedom to be able to breath fresh clean air and not be forced to be exposed to someone else's toxic smoke. Which is why your seeing so many laws, to protect people. People certainly have the right to do whatever they please in their own home/car. But I support all the public bans, for the sake of the public health.

I'm sorry but I'm going to believe doctors and medical studies over any "one" persons personal experiences. Anyone can say they know healthy people, or people who were born healthy to a smoking Mother. Big deal. That does not discount the proof, and health problems of millions of people, that smoking is deadly and is extremely unhealthy. So yes, choose to smoke if you want, that's completely your choice. But the health risks are real and effecting millions of people every year. I'm all for someone's freedom, until it starts to effect the freedoms of the public around them.

I do understand your point and agrere with some of it. im glade we had the freedom to discuse this and Thank you for the debate. I do admit its bad, but i guess i got difinceive when the other lady up there said the mom was smoking and playing with her baby..it just dosent make her a bad mom (im ddefending my mom mostly becouse she wont stop smoking no matter what i try to do. I dont like to think ppl call her bad mom when i was a kid.. I had to be with her when she smoked..it dosnet make parents bad when they drink or smoke.

But like i say alot I agree o disagree with you and do undertsand your points and am sorry you have the health problems.

I'd never say anyone is a bad person or parent even, just because they smoke. I loved my Dad and my Grandma. They were both good people, and my Grandma was a great Mom to her kids. Smoking doesn't make people bad.

Like I said it's a touchy subject to me, because it has effected my own health and I never smoked. I also lost a few people in my family because of it. Their choice, but I still mourn the loss. I wish people wouldn't smoke, because I do care. But I realize it is a choice they have the right to make. But I'm also glad were getting laws to protect everyone that doesn't smoke. Sorry I'm rambling, but no I'd never say you or anyone else is a bad parent for smoking.

*nods* its ok and like i say i understand and am sorry *hugs* i didnt mean to get protective and apoligize. I do morn my dad. i took care him for 7 years. He died when i was 14. I had beent aking care him since i was 7 alone. I called his doc, I payed his bills. I kept the house clean. I stayed home from scholl to take care of him and i do miss him.

(((hugs))) back to you, I'm sorry about your Dad. I lost mine when I was 14, so I can relate.

My DH smoked when I met him, thankfully he was able to quit. Not only for his health, but boy is it expensive now days. That would have taken up a lot of money that could have been used at DL! LOL

ya isnt it true. my mom buys the less excpicve ones usely but she likes mistys when she can aford it. I have tryed talking to her about quiting if nothing else for the money. she says she cant. I too have VERY BAD memories of being a kid subjected to second hand smoke. My dad and grandfather (who lived with us) smoked. I would be sitting in our car, windows rolled up and the both of them would smoke. If I opened a window, I would be told to close it, it's cold in here. I was not allowed to open a window. Sometimes my dad would roll his eyes and pop open the little "wing window" they used to have in old cars. It didn't do much. There I would be, hunkered down with my face between the seat and the door trying to find some fresh air. I don't know if second hand smoke can cause infertility, but if it does then count me in on being a victim of 2nd hand smoke. Oh my father died before 50 of lung cancer. Grandfather just died. Ehh no great loss. I HATE SMOKING. I see NO POINT and any law that makes it a crime to smoke around very small children I totally agree with.

I read all these posts and its so sad to hear any of it. It is just really sad anyway you look at it cause you see idiotic stuff happen if your looking. I can say that one thing that really stands out in my mind though was a few weeks ago and it made me so angry as there was no reason for this.

It was HOT HOT HOT out, the sun was shining, and I was lucky to be in the shade at the Bangal BBQ in Adventureland having lunch when I saw this mom carrying a 2 year old little girl who was wearing a little summer dress WITH NO SHOES which was fine (What a little doll she was) and well the mom decided not to carry the child anymore and put the little girl on the HOT pavement without her shoes on. The little girl started screaming and the mom didnt pick her up or put shoes on her, she just grabbed a hold of her hand and started to drag her through the crowd.

omg :sad1: that poor littel girls feet. i wounder where the shoes were. did the mom see she didnt have them on. did they fall off when she was carrying her..owwy my feet burn from this thought.

I have no idea where her shoes were or even if the mom knew the child wasnt wearing any shoes, but they couldnt have been far. In a stroller not so far away, or in her pocket that little girl should have been carried till those shoes were on her feet. But you would think you would notice as soon as the child started to scream, you would check out what was wrong, but that didnt happen.

ya i woulda looked and saw them missing then imeditly had him in my arms.

Hound. Next time you quote me, please do so in context and respond in context rather than go off onto tangents I never even mentioned. I never even mentioned adoption laws. Where did that come from in response to me? I never said we couldn't talk about what happened. But that's what we should be talking about and learning something from rather than ripping on the individuals involved who we don't even know, particularly when all the details haven't even come out. Nowhere did I mention that government shouldn't do something about it. And in fact, my post implied that they should. And all indications are that Florida is doing something about it. My post referred to those that try to big up their own chests and make hay about it trying to feel themselves superior all the while learning nothing. And the bottom line is there are those that go around doing just that. And that's who my post was talking about. Nobody in particular. But a lot of people in general. The vast majority of the threads and posts on the topic do not have any advocacy or argument for a change in adoption laws, or anything else constructive. They're doing so to rip on someone. If you want to advocate a change in adoption laws that is fine. But don't let getting on a soap box as you put it, blind you to the actual context of my post.

I also dont understand and feel disgusted when i see mother or father who have a baby, and pushes the stroller to a smoking area and smoke with the baby in the stroller. i always feel soo bad for the baby.

Ouch. Well hopefully they put the stroller up wind and away from the smoke so the baby doesn't inhale it. And I do realize that as a cm, you're probably not able to even mention it because some people would take offense to you trying to help em out. I don't smoke. But personally, if I goofed up and did that, I'd want to point it out and suggest a better alternative. Nicely of course. But I'm sure most would think Oh, it's just a CM. What do they know? How DARE they even question me.

I removed your quote Cannot Wait 4 Disney. I didn't realize i had gone off on a tangent until you brought it to my attention.

I believe the event and the issue that I raised were related & important (at least to me). Sorry I used your quote incorrectly & inaccurately.

hound :flower3:

:grouphug: its ok every one i apoligize for letting some of this get out of hand and hope we can all be friends and watch our own kids and the others we see around since some just dont pay atition

Honestly, I totally would have jumped up and run over to her and said something. HER FEET ARE BURNING!!! AND KNOWING ME WOULD NOT HAVE LET IT GO. NO EXCUSE. Heck had it been a dog I probably would have said something....
