I was thinking about bringing my own lunch for my flight down instead of buying something at the airport. If I take a turkey sandwich out of the freezer before leaving (it will be semi-thawed when going through security), will I have a problem? It's certainly not a liquid, but there will be some moisture. So am I being ridiculous or do I have a reason to question this? Thanks!

Another poster explained the no liquids rule to me this way: Does the item in question hold its own shape when at room temp? If so, it is not a liquid.

Don't feel silly asking, I asked about wet-wipes!:)

You will be fine. If you are going to put mayo on your sandwich you may want to pick up a mayo packet the next time your are at a fast food restaurant and add it to your sandwich just prior to eating on board. If packing for transport you may also want to separate the ingredients into separate baggies and assemble on board to make the sandwich taste fresher. Pretzels travel better than potato chips if you need a side a salty side. Frozen grapes also make a great "ice" pack that is perfectly legal thru security.

Excellent idea, just be sure to put that mayo pkg in your 3-1-1 bag.

Food is fine- its liquids and gels you have to worry about. So your turkey sandwich with mayo is fine but mayo on its own has to be in the 3-1-1 bag. If it can hold its shape without the container its fine :)

I always pack a lunch for us, soft sided cooler with sandwiches and snacks with frozen grapes or baby carrots as an ice pack. Then we buy drinks after clearing security so we can have what we want without waiting on the FA's.
