Arminnie, I really like your idea of emailing her this thread, but I won't. But I'd really love to do it, it's just not in me. I forgive her for being stupid, sometimes people just don't realize what they're doing or saying. It just makes me a wee bit more cautious of what I say to her next time. We all live and learn.

But because she was so upset by where we were staying, I've changed our reservations to the GF, just to make her happy. (yeah right). I think she was jealous about us going, she didn't damper my spirits, I'm looking forward to staying at PC.

How do I know her? Our kids have gone to school together since they started in Kindergarten, my daugther in now in HS.

Honestly it sounds just as condescending as some of the posters on the DIS when it comes to where to stay when going to Orlando. I am shocked at the elitism I've found and I only see it HERE.

As for your friend, my son said it best last week: Everyone has an opinion, it's just when it's said that it becomes RUDE. She should've kept that to herself.

Sometimes, things just don't need to be dignified with an answer. Whether she is jelous or not, it's non of her business if you stay at the POP, the Grand or on the street. You shared something you thought she would like to here, but according to her she knows the balance in your checking account and you cannot afford to stay anywhere else but the POP. She really needs to get over herself. I know of plenty of people who can afford to stay at the Grand Floridian and any place else but choose to stay else where such as the POP. There is NOTHING wrong with that. Who cares what she thinks. You should have told her point blank to get over herself.

I stayed at Pop 3 weeks ago. It's absolutely fine, comfortable beds. We were a little bummed at the minimal theming in the room (two disney freaks!).

I'd much rather spend my money on an inexpensive room when I am not going to be in it too much. That means I've got more money to spend on all the goodies to be enjoyed!

I don't know. I have a pretty big mouth when someone is being callous, whether it's a stranger, a good friend or a family member. I'd have said, "That has to be one of the single rudest and dumbest things I've ever heard." Then walked away.

Sure, this bluntness can be rude in and of itself, but it sure does nip things in the bud and usually makes that person think before they speak to me in the future.

Something a little similar happened years ago when I was already in WDW with friends. It was around the time that they had first started offering DVC. Out of curiousity, I sat and chatted with a rep for a little while.

After the chat was over, a friend had asked what I had been up to. When I told her, she said, "Why would anyone want to spend that kind of money for a place like this? Anyone who would even consider it is stupid." (This was a habit of hers since I had known her)

My reaction without batting an eye? "You don't even realize that you just insulted me and called me stupid. THINK about what you're going to say before you open your mouth next time."

She was floored and stomped off in a pouting huff but to date, many years later, she's never ever said anything remotely like it to me again.

Yeah - I couldn't really do it either - I just like the idea.
