There is a fancy new supermarket near my job that has an olive bar. I think they brag it has over 30 varieties of olives and pickles. You put what you want into a plastic container, then pay for it by pound.

They have several types of stuffed olives that I'm crazy about. They're green olives and stuffed with things like almonds, preserved lemons, garlic, pickled onions, or tomatoes. They're a little rough on my digestive system, but I love the things!

They (BTW, the name of the store is the Fairway Market and it's in Paramus) also used to have them stuffed with habanero peppers. Those were great for clearing my sinuses. :thumbsup2 They don't have them anymore and I'm thinking of Emailing the store to ask them to bring those back and add stuffed blue cheese to the menu. I've gotten them from the ShopRite near my in-laws, and they're very tasty too.

So, my question to you Disers is: Have you had olives stuffed with other yummy things? While I'm Emailing the store to ask about them, I may as well ask for other possible stuffings, if there are any out there that sound good.

My local market makes olives stuffed with feta - absolutely delicious :cool1:

I love olives stuffed with almonds. OMG I can eat a whole jar. I don't buy them often, because they're kind of expensive, but Kroger has their Private Selection stuffed olives that are really yummy. I think they run between $4 and $5 a jar here.

I've also had them stuffed with garlic. It was just ok.

Our Wegmans has a variety of stuffed olives. My favorite are the garlic and the anchovies.

I bought a jar of almond stuffed olives on clearance (no they have not expires) at Walmart for 25 cents. But I have been afraid to try them! I guess I will check them out..

Don't judge all stuffed olives by those. I have no idea if you got the same brand, but I bought almond stuffed olives at Walmart once and they were nasty. I spit the first one out and threw the jar away.

Ok, now I'm afraid again!

One of our Kroger's has a section like described in the OP. I will give them a try next time. I do love Kalamatas.

Oooo...anchovies! I bet those are yum. :)

They have "anchovy-flavored" green olives at Fairway. They're good in a mix, but they aren't pitted, like the stuffed ones are.

Our shoprite in essex county has one (NOT fancy!), and I like the feta ones and the garlic ones. I actually like the stuffed hot peppers!

I like the blue cheese stuffed olives, but the whole gourmet olive thing is somewhat lost on me. Kroger has a gourmet olive bar in stores here and I don't recall every seeing anyone actually buying any. Hope you get some good recommendations on some yummy stuff here.:)

West Caldwell?

What kind of stuffed hot peppers? My husband is crazy about the cherry peppers stuffed with provolone and prosciutto. They're so expensive though. Costco used to carry them, but no more and I refuse to pay the price they want at SlopRite.

I used to love them with a bread-like stuffing made in a certain salumeria in Hudson County.

I have only tried the olives stuffed with bleu cheese and jalapeno peppers...gotta look for the almond ones.

I love stuffed peppers...especially the bread crumb ones...

My favorite stuffed olives are the large green ones stuffed with Gorgonzola (basically bleau cheese). All you Wegman/Shop Rite/fancy grocery store people make me envious!:goodvibesI miss New Jersey food!:worship:

Love the bleu cheese ones. My Shop Rite (yes w cald) also has provolone. Ok. But the bleu cheese ones are better. If you are looking for some more yummy snacks try A&S on Browertown Rd in Little Falls. Or A&E in Lincoln Park. Italian "Pork stores". Great mozz, sandwiches and my favorite are these pieces if provolone wrapped in prosciutto and roasted peppers. Yum. Sorry I got off the olive subject....

ETA oh I forgot! Even more Italian deliciousness can be found in Caldwell at Calandra's Italian Village!!!

Oh, yeah! I think it's called A&A in LP. That is an awesome store! They sell precooked, breaded veal cutlets that I think are a very good value, considering the work is done for you, the high quality of the product, and the fact that the pound weight is for cooked meat. I take those cutlets home with a hunk of their mozzarella and make a mind-blowing veal parmagiana. :thumbsup2
