Has anyone ever stayed in a studio at any of the DVC Villas (BC, BW, OKW, SS or WL)? If so, how did you like them? Are there decent views? Balcony? Couch or living area? Much thanks!

The studios are perfect for one or two people. The room is about the same size as a deluxe hotel room. There is a queen bed, a sofa bed, dining table with two chairs, tv armoire, a kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, and a bathroom laid out like most of the deluxe resorts (toilet and tub/shower in one room, vanity just outside). Having the sofa bed to sit on is so nice and it makes the room seem much larger than it is. If there are only two people in the room, especially if they are sharing the bed, then no one has to sleep on the sofabed (although we've used it and it's been comfortable enough, I just think a bed sleeps better). If you book a studio at OKW, they are laid out a little differently, and have two queen beds instead of a queen and a sofa bed. Their bathrooms are larger and have the sink in the bathroom instead of outside.

As far as views, the studios have the same view choices as any other DVC rooms, as they are often next to one bedroom units so they can be combined if people are booking two bedroom units. For example, at BCV, you might look at the pool, you might look at BC, or you might have a slightly obscured view of Epcot (I usually request a top floor Epcot view, and I can usually see some fireworks from there). At VWL, you pretty much have a view of woods (although there are four studios at the far end of the floor that overlook a service area and are less desireable if you spend time on your balcony). I've never had a bad view at a DVC resort, but there are some people who don't think the views are as good as the views at the deluxe resorts.

Thanks for that. I usually say at a moderate, but since I'll be celebrating my birthday and graduation, I was thinking of making this vacation a little extra special. It will be just myself and the studios appear to be more affordable than than the Deluxes that I would want to say at!

You'll love a studio all for yourself! I take many solo trips, and a studio is like a little efficiency apartment. Enjoy!

I would highly consider going to the DVC forums and look into renting points for your stay. You will save a lot of money that way!

As a DVC owner I have stayed in studios. OKW by far is the largest and has the best balcony IMO. Large enough to actaully enjoy it and the view of the golf course or whatever you have. Also for anyone else reading, it is great for 4 since it has 2 queen beds (as opposed to 1 double sleeper sofa and a queen... really only good for 3 people IMO) The bathroom there is giagantic!

The bathroom at BWV on the other hand is so mall I felt clausterphobic. The small changes in the layouts at all the other studios don't leave me feeling quite that way. I am just referring to the tub and toilet part.

I have had a great view at BWV right outside the pool. It was actually nice to walk out my patio and just go straight to the pool that way. I did a solo trip there for my birthday and the location was great. I just didn't care for the bathroom or the long walk in the hall to get to my room (thank goodness I was on the 1st floor so I could come and go easier)

I hope you have fun planning and feel free to visit the DVC forums for specific questions about rooms and locations. Don't forget also that AKL now has DVC as well. Probably harder to book, but something to look into :)

I used to love going to WDW by myself. It was such a wonderful way to escape the pressures of everyday. And staying on property made it so much easier. Of course that was all pre DH and DD. Of course, my friend and I keep saying we are going to go and leave the families behind. That would be wonderful but I fear it is just a dream.

I agree that a studio will be perfect for you.

This family of three chooses not to stay in a studio unless there is no way around it. Just too small for us. OKW is about the only one we'd consider if we did stay in a studio. I need- really need - my king sized bed. When our son goes to college, we're planning three straight weeks at OKW in September.

My family of three has stayed at OKW and SSR in a studio and had no problem with the room size however, it was only for a weekend. I would imagine that it would seem a little crowded if we were there for any longer. I stayed at POP for a weekend with my DD and thought it was way too small for any length of stay.

I'm familiar with DVC but have no idea how to go about renting point ... any tips, hints, suggestions?

All the DVC studios have a balcony or patio, except for one studio at Villas at Wilderness Lodge (it's room 4533).

I have often stayed at a studio, most of the time at our home resort of OKW. I once did it with three other ladies on a girlfriend's week and we are all still speaking! :lmao: The OKW studios have two beds, all the other DVC resorts have a bed and a sleep sofa in their studios. I agree that it is best for no more than 2 adults, except for maybe 1 or 2 nights, unless price is a huge issue. We strive to book at least a one-bedroom if we can. More room, but more importantly, more privacy! :woohoo:

My DH and kids just came back from a trip, staying in a one-bedroom at OKW for 5 nights and at a studio at SSR for 2 nights. The studio drove them crazy.....just too small for 1 dad, and his two pre-teens! :scared1: They weren't in the room much, though.

We recently stayed at SSR in a studio - it was me, dh, and our two sons (6 & 2 yr. old). We had plenty of room even with keeping the pack-n-play up for the three days we were there. We had a view of a little courtyard with a view of DTD behind that. The short walks to DTD were great and if it had been just me and dh that would have been an even better location. :)
