OH The Horror! Scary Clowns, Haunted Houses, Scare Zones, Monsters, Pumpkins, Crooked Cats, Creepy Bears, Shopping, Dining and more….My HHN 34 Trip

Thursday, September 11th continued

What a beautiful day we had at the pool. Plenty of sun and a little umbrella shade. Enjoyed the pool time. The pool was never busy at all today.

We left the pool about 3:30 pm and went back to the room and showered.

I got into some comfy clothes and propped myself up on some pillow in bed and before long I was sleeping.

I woke up and my sister K was reading on her bed. I think it was about 5 pm.

At about 6 pm we got ready and went down to the Club lounge and had a little dinner.

I decided I would go and walk through the Scare Zones this evening. This was supposed to be a total rest day, but I thought this weekend would be to busy to enjoy the Scare Zones.

My sister K said she did not want to go.

So after dinner I got ready and off I went to catch the water taxi.

Before long was walking under the HHN sign.

IMG_6372.jpeg

I walked through the Masquerade of Death Scare Zone. The costumes in this zone were beautiful. There were plenty of Scare Actors in this zone.

There were female vampires walking on stilts in period costumes. You think it is difficult to walk on stilts, I would guess it is doubly hard with a long dress. They did it so gracefully.

Remember when I talked about in the report early I had a feeling stain glass would be a theme this year. I think it is.
IMG_6374.jpeg

IMG_6375.jpeg

IMG_6376.jpeg

This Vampire was more than happy to pose.
IMG_6377.jpeg

The Zombie Car Hops were out skating around and they were happy to show you their recent kill.
IMG_6378.jpeg

I love the pumpkins in the trees so pretty and very Halloween.
IMG_6379.jpeg

The design team really did a wonderful job with this Scare Zone.
IMG_6380.jpeg

The lighting is very bright and colorful on the Cat Lady House. She is tending to one of her Cats……This is really a great show.
IMG_6381.jpeg

Of course I had to take a picture of Mel’s Die-In
IMG_6391.jpeg

I walked through Springfield and walked over the bridge. I wanted to stop in Diagon Alley and see if the Death Eaters were out.

I only had to wait a few minutes.
IMG_6386.jpeg

IMG_6385.jpeg

IMG_6383.jpeg

After I was done watching the Death Eaters I headed back to Hollywood. I stopped in the Five & Dime to see if there was anymore Hami-Kumi merch.

IMG_6392.jpeg

IMG_6393.jpeg

IMG_6397.jpeg
I did end up buying one of the Jersey’s it is creepy and cute.

I had to say hi to Drac on my way out.
IMG_6399.jpeg

I walked on the sidewalk behind the Masquerade of Death Scare Zone
IMG_6400.jpeg

The Crow on stilts was out near the front of the Origins of Horror Scare Zone.
IMG_6402.jpeg

IMG_6403.jpeg

IMG_6406.jpeg

I walked through the Scare Zone again. Notice the small stain glass windows above each of the stone carvings representing some of the houses.

I stopped in big Universal store on my way out and saw this T-shirt and sweat shirt. I had a special little fella who loves Bob and Tim who I knew would love this.

IMG_6413.jpeg

IMG_6414.jpeg

Guess who I saw following shoppers around in the store. It was Art……..
IMG_6416.jpeg

They have a nice FNAF back drop photo op.
IMG_6417.jpeg

I walked through the section of the store which used to house the Sweets Shop and they had added a lot of new merchandise.

I stopped in the Universal Sweets shop to see if they had added more HHN treats.

They did have some of the sheep from Epic Universes Isle of Berk.
IMG_6431.jpeg

The Jaws apple is pretty cute.
IMG_6432.jpeg

As are the Freddy Fazbear Apples.

Thrusday, September 11th continued

The park was busy. I remember a few years ago that Wednesday and Thursday evenings at HHN used to be pretty quiet. Not anymore. Back then the weekends were the busy time.

I was ready to leave the park after looking in the Sweet Shop. It was warm out, but after I got out of the park there was a nice breeze that had kicked up.

The Water Taxi for Portofino was at the dock and I boarded and before long we were headed back to the resort.

My sister K was back in the room watching TV.

It was nice to be in the AC.

I took my shower and got ready for bed. It was about 10:30 pm. My walk around HHN this evening was enough to make this old girl tired. It was not long before my head hit the pillow I was out.

Friday, September 12th

I got up and showered and then my sister K got up.

Looked out the window and the sun was shining. It looked to be another beautiful start to the day.

We had planned to meet up with Lynne and her daughter at the Starbucks in CityWalk.

So we stopped in the Club Lounge for a light breakfast and off we went to the water Taxi.

I had met Lynne a number of years ago. She is a member of the Sans family (or at least that is what I call it). The Sans sticky was started by the lovely Mac many years ago.

We call Mac the Mother of the SAN’s sticky as she was the one who started it and has been very helpful to us all over the years as we learned the ropes from her about all things Universal. She taught us all the intricacies of navigating HHN as she was a pro at it and had attended the event for years.

Although I’am not one who stays in touch much throughout the year with emails etc…. with the folks I have met from the Sans sticky. I do try and keep up on whats going on in their lives from the Sans thread as well as sharing what I’am up too.

Just wanted to take the time and thank the Disboards for creating a home for all who love Universal, Disney, Seaworld etc…..You have really created a wonderful place for everyone to share information and help someone planing their trips as well as bringing together many who share a passion for these parks. Thank you so much.

Lynne was in one of Mac’s HHN Private VIP Tours in 2017. My sister K and I had bought into Mac’s Tour that year also.

We still laugh about that tour as Lynne had never done HHN before and she had her face planted in my sisters back holding onto my sister purse for dear life going through the haunted houses…..LOL

I dare say…..Lynne is a trooper with HHN now….After reading her postings of her trips with her daughter.

Mac created a sticky where everyone who loves Universal could connect and share information not only about our trips, but what was happening in our lives.

So we became a sort of family who posted frequently and finally a few of us met each other in person over time. It was a nice way to put a face to those we had communicated with for years.

Many have come and gone from the Sans sticky, but they are still family who show up from time to time. Even though some don’t post there anymore they are still missed.

We spotted Lynne and her daughter when we arrived inside Starbucks. We all ordered our drinks and went outside to one of the tables for a visit.

Lynne’s daughter is a sweet young lady and it was so nice to see her again.

We all had a nice catch up and before long we were our saying goodbyes. I think they were heading to Disney and we were going to spend some time in IOA.

I did stop and take a picture to remind me of the times for the new Downton Abbey show that was playing at he cinema. Our older sister D was going to be coming in for a visit on Sunday and we thought it would be a fun thing to do to go see it together as we all liked Downton Abbey.

IMG_6436.jpeg

My sister said she had seen some cute Halloween shirts online that were sold at Bubba Gumps so we walked over there to take a look.

IMG_6437.jpeg

IMG_6438.jpeg

IMG_6439.jpeg

IMG_6441.jpeg

After we were done we headed towards IOA.

I noticed that they had moved the Cinnabon that used to be located were the Big Universal store extension is into the middle of CityWalk.

IMG_6442.jpeg

We did look at some of the Jaws merch on one of the carts in CityWalk. It is hard to believe that Jaw’s is 50 years old.
IMG_6443.jpeg

IMG_6444.jpeg

IMG_6445.jpeg

It was good go see the refurbished Margaritaville Plane back in its place.

My sister reminded me to stop and take a picture of Toothsome Chocolate Emporium across the water.

IMG_6447.jpeg

IMG_6448.jpeg

We do have fond memories of some meals we had there when Toothsome first open. The food was great. Then a couple of years later the food and service tanked and I just have not been back for a meal since. I guess I need to give it a try again.

Always fun to see the IOA lighthouse it means fun about to start….LOL
IMG_6449.jpeg

Life is about adventures big and small.
IMG_6450.jpeg

We popped in the Trading Company Store to see what HHN merch was for sale in there. It is nice that they have HHN merch in the store even though IOA is not part of HHN.
IMG_6451.jpeg

IMG_6452.jpeg

I had not seen these HHN cup holders yet if I remember correctly. These have become very popular for the various events celebrated at Universal.
IMG_6453.jpeg

IMG_6454.jpeg

IMG_6455.jpeg

IMG_6456.jpeg

I had seen the glasses on the top shelf in the Studiosm but I don’t recall a seeing the Terrifier 4 pack of glasses on the bottom shelf.

I have found over the years that you sometimes can not find the same merc in all the stores so if you see something you want buy it and have it sent to the room.
IMG_6458.jpeg

This Bob and Tim Hat, shirt and popcorn bucket was cute.
IMG_6459.jpeg

This Halloween one was even cuter.
IMG_6461.jpeg

Not sure what Universal calls these head bands. I think it is a great answer to Disneys ears. I will call them Uni character bands. They are really cute and they have a nice selection of them in the Big Universal Store in CityWalk.
IMG_6462.jpeg

I was tempted to buy my little great-nephew little J one of these hats, but my sister little J’s grandma reminded me he does not like wearing hats.
IMG_6463.jpeg

Popcorn buckets of various characters is a big think at Universal. I have seen online that people do collect them.

You do get your first fill of popcorn for free. You do not have to get it in your popcorn bucket. They will give it to you in a bag or box so you can keep your popcorn bucket clean.

You do have to get your free popcorn fill on the day you purchase your popcorn bucket. You give them the little extra receipt at the end of your purchase receipt to get your popcorn.
IMG_6464.jpeg

The hedwig Owl hats on the bottom shelf are new.
IMG_6466.jpeg

After we were done looking around the Trading Company Store we crossed over and looked around the Port of Entry Christmas Shoppe.

IMG_6467.jpeg

This is such a nice store. It is so well laid out with all the different merchandise.
IMG_6468.jpeg

My sister is a big fan of the Grinch and she really liked looking at all the Grinch things. She like this black sparkly Grinch spirit jersey.
IMG_6469.jpeg

IMG_6470.jpeg

She like this nightshirt and ended up buying it.
IMG_6471.jpeg

The lunch box was cute.
IMG_6472.jpeg

IMG_6473.jpeg

IMG_6474.jpeg

IMG_6475.jpeg

She also bought the Grinch sipper cup. Just like the popcorn buckets you can get your first refill in a cup and not the sipper if you want.
