Studios for family of 4

I do not understand the thought process of wanting to hang out in the room on vacation? I just can't see the need to use all those extra points for a 1bed for what amounts to maybe a 'little' more room when we all go to sleep each night?!? In reality, that is the only time the extra room is needed---as if you are at Disney and hanging out in the room all day, then you are wasting a lot of money, lol.

We really like having our daughter in a separate room from us when it is nap time or bedtime, so we DON'T have to sleep or be super quiet when she's in bed.

Plus, it is easier for us to keep things organized in a 1-bedroom, rather than feeling like we're living in an explosion of suitcases. The latter isn't very relaxing to us. And we do like to use the kitchen. Mostly just for breakfasts, sandwiches, and snacks, but we usually do a dinner or two in the room during a week-long vacation and sometimes do other things like baking Christmas cookies.

Anyway, I personally can't imagine being happy with a studio for four-- especially when one of the kids is full-grown. But plenty of people do it happily!

We bought into the VGF last year, with FULL intentions on just using the Studio's for our family (myself, wife, son 13, and son 7). We have traveled to Disney many, many times--so we do spend a lot of time at the resort. With this being said, we do NOT hang out in the room---as we are swimming, looking around the hotel, walking around, using the fitness gym, etc.

Maybe its that we don't just all sleep at night and the kids in the other room facilitate what happens when my husband and I aren't sleeping. ;)

Its expensive nookie - but it makes vacation a lot more pleasant - my husband is much more likely to be dragged around Disney for a week if he knows there is something in it for him, than if he thinks he is going to have to share a room with two kids for a week and there isn't anything in it for him :)

Thank you for this! I even looked on AllEars but must not have looked in the right places. :) Overall I guess it is safe to assume they are "similar" in size...a deluxe hotel room vs. DVC studio but it is the configuration that is different (two queen beds/double bathroom sinks vs. one queen bed w/sleep pull out/single bathroom sink but kitchenette area) except at OKW. Unfortunately for us I think the deluxe hotel room fits our needs better. I am thinking I either need to crunch the numbers to get enough points for a 1BR or walk away from the idea of DVC and continue as a hotel guest....at least for now.

Frankly, it isn't for everyone. I wouldn't have ever bought DVC for studio stays - we bought because it was a good way to have our kids sleep in a different room ;). I MUCH prefer the Deluxe rooms to DVC studios. I'm one of those strange DVCers who likes housekeeping to make my bed every day and wipe up the bathroom.

Now, as it becomes just me and my husband, and we aren't tripping over what are now two teenagers, and retirement brings us more time - maybe studios and more nights are in our future.

You know better than that, once you become a 1 bedroomer, you stay a 1 bedroomer :goodvibes.

I know that it seems weird to others but I think that we would still vacation at WDW even if the parks were closed. We love BWV, VWL and VGF.

There are two sinks in the vanity area for AKV Jambo House for a studio. These rooms were converted from hotel rooms to DVC studios. To my knowledge no other DVC resort has two sinks in the vanity area.

VGF has two showers in the studio (one in a tub), but only one sink.

I really don't - I'd vacation at HHI. But I wouldn't spend a day in central Florida if it weren't for the parks. The resorts are - ok. But there are so many places I'd rather be. And I don't find Disney resorts relaxing - most people are waiting to get to somewhere - the parks, dinner - there is an atmosphere of stress that you just don't get on a beach in Mexico.
