Studios at VGF

Has anyone who owns at VGF ever not been able to book a studio at the 11 month mark? Thanks!

Don't think there is a resort except possibly Poly that hasn't had an issue at some point to some capacity. Might only be a couple days in early December though.

Okay. We were considering buying points resale at VGF, but we’d only have enough for studios. If I spend the premium price for points at VGF, and then I’m not able to book a studio, I’ll be so frustrated.

Thanksgiving will be a challenge. February & April shouldn't be a problem at 11 months unless your trip includes a race weekend.

February and April vacation weeks (presuming the correspond to President's Day week and Patriot's Day week, like here in MA) often (but not always) correspond with the Princess runDisney races in February and the Star Wars runDisney races in April. And of course every now and again (like in 2022), April vacation week is also Easter.

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn’t sound like it would be a good idea. Back to being indecisive about BLT, AKV and PVB. Whenever I have my mind made up, it changes!

Thanks for the feedback. Doesn’t sound like it would be a good idea. Back to being indecisive about BLT, AKV and PVB. Whenever I have my mind made up, it changes!

I don’t own at VGF so I can’t really say how hard or not it is to book studios. That said, my experience with CCV has been that if you’re willing to walk a reservation - which gives you a few 8am mornings to snag a room before your desired vacation date - you can usually get what you want.
Of course, I admittedly DID buy fixed weeks 47 & 48 at CCV so that I could get Thanksgiving and early Christmas season without that hassle!

AKV you are very likely to be able to get what you want, with a chance at Value (but don’t buy counting on it). But I did manage to snag a week in a value studio for April vacation week before so it’s not out of the question.

If you’re looking to buy Direct, fixed weeks are an option for both VGF and PVB. Guarantees you a specific week if you want it; you can cancel to get the points back in years you want to travel at another time. That’s partly why we did it, as I don’t expect to travel for Thanksgiving and the week after every year. But when I do, I’ve got the studio guaranteed with no effort on my part.

If you don’t mind getting Lake view for more points, 11months shouldn’t be an issue. If you want standard, walk your resy and/or be ready to click at the opening bell. Only 47 studios which is the lowest for WDW DVC and they can be part of a 2bdrm lockoff so the go quick.

VGF is walkable, generally speaking. This is work and could change at any minute. There are many who don’t like walking and would like to see it eliminated.

In the current booking rules and patterns, if you have enough time to walk a reservation, you should be able to make it work.

It would have worked for 50th anniversary AND Halloween 2021, which is a peak DVC booking and that’s with all the 2020 extra points are in circulation.

This requires thinking about your use year, because you can’t walk across a use year. For example, if you were trying to walk for Halloween, October use year would mean you can’t start walking until October 1 opens up.

thanksgiving will still be difficult. I’d start walking it as early as possible.

The only time I've not been able to get a VGF studio at 11 months was this year for the 50th. I also don't typically book here for my November or December trips, though.

This year I was not able to get a room for VGF for New Year's Eve. I am an owner and was online at exactly 8 a.m. of the opening of my 11 month window. I would like to emphasize that I would have taken any available room (just not the Grand Villa). I do not know how to walk a reservation.

As I have owned since 2014 and bought direct we have been many times. This is the first time I have not been able to get my preferred room. BUT I think that a lot of people have extra points due to the COVID-19 closures and are splurging.

I think you are exactly right and the whole fall into 2022 is going to be extremely hard to book outside of the 11mo window with the amount of points members have to burn and the hope that things will be returning to normal.
