How do you eat? Do you eat out? Do you buy the dining plan?

If you eat only in the room, what do you eat?

I need to decide by tomorrow about what to do.

Since studios have a kitchenette only, we usually keep things like snacks, lunch meats, bread, cereal, beverages, etc. so we can have a quick breakfast, lunch and snack in the room. The microwave is nice to heat up leftovers from our dinner ADRs. We make coffee in the room too but bring your own coffee and fluted filters because the coffee at WDW leaves MUCH to be desired! Have a wonderful time!:goodvibes

IMO, the studio is much too small for anything other than breakfast or snacks.

We usually just eat breakfast and snacks in the room. We'll have cereal or english muffins/bagels. We have eaten more elaborate meals that include grilling and using the microwave, but we don't do it often.

I'm anti cooking on vacation, so I typically do just breakfast in the room (toast), and sometimes heat up frozen things that are microwaveable that you can get in the store. In August, I'll probably do a lot of sandwiches in the room, since I'm thinking it'll be necessary to escape the heat of the parks by lunch time. But I typically primarily eat out.

To me, if I have to cook, it's not vacation. That's why we love Studios...if I had a kitchen I wouldn't use it anyways. We only have breakfast in the room before heading out for the day. I bring cereal, muffins, pop-tarts, etc. and juice, milk and sodas...the rest we eat out.

We do breakfast in the room and sometimes use the grill for dinner. We don't do the dining plan and instead use a TIW card. We generally do our sit down meal for lunch (unless we are doing a signature meal outside the parks) and then get counterservice for dinner. We briong along our own snacks.

We have sausge bisquits, English muffins, and fruit for breakfast. I have taken along the microwave container meals if DH has to be in class all day and I will eat those myself for 1 meal.

We usually have a package of lunchmeat, in case we want to stay in for a lunch or dinner. We always do breakfast in the room...cereal, coffee, juice and fruit with toast or english muffin.

No cooking for me on vacation either so a studio is perfect for us. Breakfast bars and fruit for breakfast (we usually bring a bag of apples and some bananas) and popcorn at night. Thats all the cooking I do on vacation :thumbsup2

We have done the DDP in the past but now we get AP so we will be trying the TIW card this trip.

when i stay in the studios i cut the food costs by doing breakfast in (cereals, toast, fruit, yogurt) and pack lunch (sandwiches, snacks, fruit). if you want to eat dinner "in" the stores on dvc properties have microwaveable meals.

We bring a rice cooker.... we boil water in a glass in mocrowave allows you to make the cup a soup or ramen noodle soup.....

since you have a fridge you could also (if you go to walmart or if you live a couple hours away like us you could simply bring it!) cook microwave dinners!

We have also brought portable stove (little one with electric burners) on occassion......that opens up things like spaghetti etc :)

We make 90% of our own meals. For breakfast we use quick heat stuff or if i want to get creative i make eggs in the microwave. Lunch is normal, dinner is few raw meats but mostly packaged processed stuff. Like oncor dinners, or pre-cooked stuff. Not really that hard but does not allow for fancy meals. We don't generally eat out due to cost but when we do we usually go to golden corral. There are a ton of them and some are only just off property.

We usually have a car for at least one day for church, so I do get to go to Publix at least once where I buy yogurt, cereal, fruit, milk water and maybe a rotisserie chicken, and if the chicken, then some greens or salad fixings.

I like to bring the Glad type plastic containers for cereal, the bowls that you get are so small. Mostly we eat breakfast in the room, but I have brought my little grill to make grilled cheese sandwiches.

DH and I will be in a studio for a week that's sandwiched in between weekend stays in 2 bedrooms. I really don't know what I'm going to do and hope I don't have to throw things out after the first 2 bedroom stay.

we spend most of our time out of the room, enjoying the parks, hotels, pools, etc. so we eat out (dining plan) and bring some snacks and beverages to keep in the room.

We use the Glad/Ziplock containers for cereal too. Sometimes there are not enough bowls for the whole time we're there.

Thank you for all your input. We don't normally stay in studios, but there are only three of us going this trip so we thought a studio would be ok this trip. I decided to add the QSP to our reservation.

I do have some items for breakfast ready for our trip. I am trying to take it easy this trip and it's going to be an interesting adventure for all three of us.

I get to start the 19 hour drive tomorrow. Wish me luck!:car:

Have a safe trip! I think the QSP is a good idea! I'd like to try it someday.

I usually don't cook meals on vacation ,but I do bring lunch meat ,cheese ,mayo and that stuff for sandwiches and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches and maybe pizza pockets and cheese and crackers ,cereal and drinks so I do like having the fridge and real freezer -
I had a regular room with a Minni fridge in between stays with a large fridge and It was frustrating not to be able to have fruit or anything -

wow.. I thought a lot more would be utilizing the microwave and toaster.

we love tuna salad on toast for a meal. we microwave hot dogs. smoked sausage cooks up nice in the microwave.

I'll probably get slammed and told I belong over on the budget board, ;)but anyway:

we bring cans of beef stew, chef boyardee ravioli, chicken ala king, chili. you can also pick up precooked chicken (at publix, or goodings) and either eat it cold or microwave it.

there, I just mentioned 8 different possible "meals" depending on your length of stay , eating some meals in the room makes it possible to lengthen that stay, if you're not spending a TON on eating. between these, and all those hints suggested by others (sandwiches, toast, cereal, snacks, yogurt, etc.) you can splurge on some nice dinners, and some favorite CS places.

We eat breakfast in the room, then get counter service lunch, table service dinner. This seems to work best for us.
