It comes down to preference, as many have stated already (yeah, I don't know why I'm chiming in with another view, but I'm gonna). We prefer 1BRs because we love the space--and it's only two of us. However, we like the kitchen for the large fridge and occasional cooking. We almost always use the washer/dryer which allows us to pack less. The jacuzzi tub is wonderful (especially after, say, one of the RunDisney races). The split bathroom allows both of us to get ready in the mornings and before dinners (yes, some studios have that, too, but you sacrifice a lot of storage in those cases). If one of you does want to stay up later than the other, the living area being separate from the bedroom is useful. We're also one of those "just toss it on the table" kind of people (shhh, don't tell my wife I admitted this), so having a table, kitchen counter, AND coffee table is convenient. As we take quite a few trips, we often will stay in studios to save points; however, we go for the 1BRs whenever possible. As for slides, most resorts have decent ones, but as many will tell you, Stormalong Bay is an awesome pool (Beach Club) for kids of all ages.
