Studio "kitchen" question

A DVC member was kind enough to rent me points for a studio at BCV. I've search for this and couldn't find the answer.

I understand there is a wet bar, i.e. small sink, mini fridge and microwave. Are there any dishes and silverware? Are there bar stools where my two kids could sit and eat their Pop Tarts or whatever?

Also, how far is the walk from the Beach Club to the Dolphin National Car Rental?

Thanks to all.

Can't comment on the kitchen, but in terms of the walk from the BC to the Dolphin Hotel. I would say comapre it to a walk from the Wedding Pavilion to the MK front gate.

The kitchen isn't much. Just enough room for a small sink and a wee bit of counter space. I believe they give you some plastic dishes and utensils. But no, there is no place like a "bar" for kids to sit and eat. There is a table in the room, though, that can seat four people.

I don't know how far it is to the National Car Rental place, but the hike to the Dolphin can be done in 10-15 minutes. Or, if you prefer, you can take a boat.

There are no dishes in the studio, but they supply you with paper plates, plastic silverware. I usually bring some of my own paper products to keep up the supply while we are there. There are no bar stools, but there is a small table and 2 chairs next to the sliding glass door area of the studio. You might want to check out the pictures of a BCV studio over at www.allearsnet.com . That will give you an idea of what you are getting. Have a great trip.

Haven't stayed at BCV, but at BWV studio - no "real dishes" but about 1/2 dozen paper plates, bowls, and 3-4 sets of plastic silverware. There's also a couple glasses (not paper) and a couple coffee mugs. Depending on lenght of stay, you might want to bring along some extra of your own, although I think, if you just ask, they will replenish.

Small table with two chairs that kids can sit at (if you keep it clear of all other stuff)

As far as Beach Club to Dolphin, a brisk adult only walk would probably take 5-7 minutes; with kids, a leisurely stroll of 10-15 minutes; or as stated, line up for the boat to MGM - which stops at the Dolphin enroute, and you can get off there.

You do get plastic goods to eat with and on. There is a table and 2 chairs in the room along with a sofa/bed.

The walk to Dolphin is only 5-10 min. on the boardwalk.

Have a great time.

I only stayed at SSR but there was a coffee table with a large wooden tray on it. Depending upon the age of your kids, they could sit on the floor and eat there. (I did!! LOL)

Missisippian: I hope you do not mind me posting here with a question of my own. Having never been "home" myself but planning on staying in a studio in August, I was wondering if the studios have toasters. I thought I read somewhere that they did, but the pictures of studio rooms and the discriptions of appliances do not mention toasters. Can anyone tell me if studios do in fact have toasters or toaster ovens in them. Thanks so much.

I hope you have a great time at the BCV. :sunny:

Disgirl,
There is usually a toaster. If not you can call and request one.

Here's a photo of a typical studio at BWV. The other DVC resorts' studios are similar, mostly just different decor.

Thank you BuzzandWoody and Caskbill for the info. and great picture. I never noticed the toaster in the pictures I saw of a studio. Thanks. I was hoping we could have some toast or English muffins during our August stay.

This really is a wonderful board with such helpful people. THANKS! :teeth:

Thanks very much for the help on this, especially Caskbill!

The wet bar area is just fine for what I want to do, and the microwave and toaster will be a big help. We shop at Costco, and so I'll just take a bunch of extra plastic stuff with us.

We're planning to eat breakfast in the room every morning, and perhaps even dinner. Don't know if we'll do a grocery stop witha limo or just rent a car, either one-way or for our stay.

We owe this trip to the Independence Air far sale, although we're flying on Delta. Our tickets were $106 each, total, and I rented points for three nights in a studio for $351. We already have Park Hoppers.

We're only staying three nights at BCV. We're checking out on Friday to avoid the increase in points. Don't know where we'll end up; might go to Sea World or someplace and stay a bit closer to the airport for our early Saturday flight.

Bottom line is that we might manage this entire trip for under $1,000. I'm confident we'll be under $1,250. Not bad for a four-night Disney trip in a Deluxe resort.

Just thought I would share that info. Thanks to all for the help.

We always stay in a studio and I've started packing some of the cheap "real" utencils that you buy in a pack at the dollar store and some hard plastic plates. Our last trip I took a couple of the hard ziploc storage containers to eat cereal out of and store any leftovers. They're also good to pack breakables in for the trip home. There is dishwashing soap in the room to clean everything and we just prefer eating with "real" plates.

Just back from a stay in a BWV studio.

It had plenty of paper plates & bowls and plastic utensils. Four glass drinking glasses, 2 coffee mugs, toaster, microwave, dishtowel, can opener, corkscrew, sugar, milk subsitute, tea, two bags of coffee (both regular for some reason), big dormsize refrigerator.

We brought along a hot plate by GE...about $25 at Walmart...they had cheap ones for $8 but I didn't like the looks of it. My mom likes real oatmeal in the morning. Real oatmeal is quite difficult to make in the microwave without making a mess. You need a micro with good controls on it and this tiny microwave looked like a $49 jobber. We also brought a small corning wear pot & fry pan (can do double duty in the micro and hot plate). The hard ziploc plates were great.
