studio at Vero Beach

Do any of the studios have ocean views? Is this something to request?

It is a slim possibility. Unless you get an OVIR. Ocean View Inn Room, which is similar to a studio except it has a direct view of the ocean and it has 2 queen beds instead of a queen / sleeper sofa arrangement.

We love the OVIR

Limited. I believe the 1 BRM's have the best chance of of Ocean Views.

IMO, the Inn rooms are better in almost every situation. I'd reserve an Inn room and ask for a higher floor. If you do a studio instead, I'd ask for a higher floor end unit.

Sorry you couldn't get any availability. May I ask what dates you were looking for ? I currently have an email request in to MS for a studio (or Inn room) for mid August. I probably won't hear anything back until Tuesday. But I am on pins and needles about availability.

We booked Vero about a month ago for Memorial Day weekend and were only able to get a two studios. No 2 bedrooms no OVIR.

Thank you for the link BWV Dreamin. It's making me a tad nervous. I'm ok if I don't get an OVIR....I'd take a GVIR or even a studio and I let MS know this. I'm looking for Aug 12-19.
So I called a few days too late for the 7 month window and hope that doesn't work against me. I need it for my dd's freshman college orientation as well as visiting nearby relatives. Of course, we'll also enjoy being at the resort too, but alot of our day will be spent at the college nearby she is going to. It'll be our families' last time all together for several months, as we will be flying home to PA without her

It's Florida Tech in Melbourne.
I did ask over on the TUG boards and haven't gotten any replies yet. I asked exactly what you brought up---if there were any exchanges in Melbourne. I thought about trading my Vistana week (deeded at Vistana's Beach Club on Hutchinson Island).
We just paid cash in November when we went down for 3 nights for an Open House/tour and stayed at the Doubletree Guest Suites (in Melbourne) for $120/night (online or over the phone regular rate is $220/night). I tried booking that for cash again and the offsite reservations staff member couldn't help me and said I had to call back on Monday. So everything is up in the air until tommorrow I guess. I'm hoping to find out about Disney Vero Beach availability too tommorrow. Then I can book whichever.

Not much in that exactly area that's worth doing DVC for. The Vistana Beach club is not too far south from there. Daytona and the surounding area is not too far north. There are a couple of resorts in Cocoa beach on the II list and a few more in II but not on the list. IF you could use Vistana for a trade, you'd be much better off. Also try to trade to DVC VB as well. Personally I'd try for the Marriott in West Palm and DVC but it depends on how important it is to be close. And Orlando is only a little over an hour away as well.

It is kind of important to be not much more than 45 min away because the freshman orientation runs from Aug 12 through Aug 17. Classes start on Aug 18. I have a feeling we'll be back and forth frequently to the campus and our resort. Vero would be awesome if I could trade my Vistana----but I'm afraid to bank it and then not get anything in the "less than an hour" drive from the campus.

Depending on the week you have, you may not have to give it up unless you match. The rule is that if the week you want is prior to the week you're giving up, you can do a search first. You can also do a search first using DVC for any resort on their list. This is, IMO, the best option of the DVC II system. Call II and tell them what you want. See if you can get them to look before you commit yourself, if not, you can always cancel. I don't have anything to look with at present else I'd try to look for you. Maybe one of the others that are II members will be able to scout it for you.

I just got a ressie for VB mid-August for 2 nights the other day. I got the OV room.

To be clear, my thought about cancelling was the II account, not the exchange. You must cancel any exchange within 24 hours to be whole.
