DD19 was very fortunate to get into a PTA program in our area. No grants or scholarships from the school itself. :(

So it is costing us more than atticipated, and I am trying to save us money where ever we can.

She needs a stethoscope & blood pressure cuff. Of course, she looks at the highest priced ones, but if she is using it mainly for practicing at home, I think we could go cheaper.

Anyone w/ students in the medical field have any suggestions?

I have a Littman Lightweight II (2451). I didn't need anything fancy. They're about $40 on Amazon, but I'm sure I paid about $20 more a few years ago. A lot of my classmates bought theirs used on ebay, amazon or from other students. I didn't attend PA school but no one ever looked at any of our stethoscopes. As long as they worked, it was all good. I can't imagine she'd need a blu-tooth one or any of the crazy expensive ones just yet.

Any suggestions on blood pressure cuffs?

We bought our Daughter a Littman and her name inscribed on it when she got accepted to Med School. She is second year but in her first year I thought the school gave the students one so she now has two. She did have to buy the BP cuff and the ear/nose light (sorry don't know the name of it lol..) I think she got or ordered those items at the school store.

She just let me know that the school did give her the Stethoscope, she said she only paid like $50 for the BP cuff and cannot remember how much the Ear/nose thingy was. Good luck to your daughter!!!

My ds got a Littman too. I think he got it at the school store, but he said he coudnt hear with it so we had to get him a more expensive Littman cardiac one with his name inscribed on it.

I didnt mind because he got a full ride to school for the RN degree, now to find a job!

Good luck to your dd. The pta program here is so competitive.

Our pedi had an app for the ear/nose thing and it was attached to his iphone.
