Stuck on the Hulk 2/19 (friday)

Dueling Dragons was still open as of last Friday (2/19) but my guys were disappointed that you don't go through the castle. It seems that the entrance was through the exit (I wasn't there, but that's how they explained it). They loved seeing the new HP though and can't wait until it opens!

I was disappointed too riding Dueling Dragons and not going thru the castle..even though i walk thru the castle usually pretty fast b/c theres never any line till near the end, walking thru the castle was fun..i liked walking thru it so much that i think it was half of my enjoyment of the attraction..i remember everything about it from the frozen ice armor to even the water fountains..ha

Never been stuck on a Universal ride, but me & my 2 DS's got stuck on Expedition Everest at AK.

The ride stopped at the point where you climb up a steep hill & then it appears you run out of track. Normally it pauses for a brief moment here & then sends you careening backwards. However, instead of sending us backwards, it just stopped for several minutes.

We had ridden before & knew this wasn't normal, but the people in the car behind us thought at 1st that this was just a part of the ride.

We got a kick out of it, as it gave the ride a new element of suspense for us.

At least they were stuck inside! DH and I got stuck on the top of the second hill of SheiKra at Busch Gardens in a thunderstorm. It was lightly drizzling when the train left the station and turned into a downpour just before we crested the second hill. Not sure why it shut down but DH's theory is that the rain was so heavy that the sensors couldn't tell where the trains were so it just stopped them. We were up there 10 mins. or so in the thunder and lightning. I was trying to figure out if they would evac us with lighting or leave us there till the storm was over, but eventually the train started moving again. We were soaked to the skin and people were flipping out because more than a few cell phones were ruined. They have us a few front-of-the-line passes to use in the future...I think I actually still have them stashed away for some crowded future day.

We were so wet that I actually bought a new outfit before we left the park. Ironically, getting stuck on the coaster set up perfect timing to see someone toss a kitten out onto I-4. I managed to stop and get him, and of course I named him SheiKra since he indirectly owes his life to my getting stuck on his namesake.

Now that might have freaked me out a bit! Me on metal track with lightening all around = :scared1:

My family still laughs at video of me at WDW frantically running while pushing DS in a stroller in order to seek shelter from a thunder storm.

We had a lenghy stick on Buzz Lightyear last time. We were all racking up incredible scores until the ride started up and all scores were re-set :rotfl:

I think we all got a Fast pass when we got off.

You would not have been alone! There was a poor girl screaming her heart out in the row behind us, and her friends were not at all sympathetic. No comfort, just kept telling her to shut up.

Yea, that's probably what happened, involving the sensors not knowing where the trains were, so the computer just Estopped itself. Ride control systems are amazing. There are soooo many safety components to it, that normal park guests would never know.

I know of one at Manta that when the train gets pulled back into the flying position, a set of lasers (invisible for us to see) basically turn on and create a "wall" on the sides of the trains, behind, and even underneath. The ride will go down a lot if a girl is wearing a dress, or if someone is holding something then drops it in the station, it will trigger the sensor and stop the ride. Or if someone jumps over the station gates they will flag the sensors and stop the train.

Common Guests: "OMGZZZZ ITS BROKKKEEE!!!!!1111111111"
Cool Guests: "Oh sweet an estop, lets watch!"

LOL, that sounds like us. There I am, getting pouring on at the top of the hill in a thunderstorm, and this was my thought process:

"It would be so cool to be walked off SheiKra!" My only hesitation was trying to figure out if the cool factor would outweigh the risk of a lightning strike on the metal stairs.

They have a roller coaster tour where you get to climb the brake run platform on Montu and stand on the level just below the actual run while the coaster goes over you. It was great! They said they actually let you ride the little evac cart thingy on SheiKra's sister coaster on the equivalent tour in Virginia.

Hahaha yea this would be the ultimate adrenaline rush. Coasters are fun, but being on a platform 200+ feet up... wow!

Yow, that second photo is especially amazing...gives me vertigo just to look at it!

I used to love the back row on Cedar Point's Magnum, where I would sit looking backwards to watch the track drop as we plummeted down. That was before I got Lasik, and one day my glasses went bye-bye. Thank goodness I had a spare pair. We looked through the fence and actually saw one broken lens...goodness only knows where the rest ended up after a 200 foot fall.

I don't consider a day of riding SheiKra successful unless my shoulders are bruised. I know exactly how to sit to get maximum air, which unfortunately also means maximum slam into the harness. Sure wish Uni had made the Rockit a dive coaster, although I do love the row 6 air time.
