Stuck on Splash, Swimming in Sewage, & Still Laughing! A "Classy" 6/11 TR- 5/6 DONE!

Do you use the regular Listerine or the wimpy Listerine? I can't handle the regular! It burns my mouth up!

Haha, I totally forgot about the people give John FPs. I was the same as you when I saw that picture. I was like, "Hold on a minute"...

Thank you! I am SO thrilled! Last Christmas when we went we wanted to stay at WL but it didn't work out. We ate at Artist Point one night and I remember wishing so badly I was staying there!

Regular all the way!!! I love the way it makes my mouth feel! Jess hates it too though. She uses the wimpy kind. I always make fun of her for it. :p

Hahab yeah I figured you just forgot or something. No worries!

I bet! It's gorgeous! You and Jess should have a DIS meet!!!

That is so cool that we will be there at the same time! Hopefully we will run into each other! I love DISmeet photo ops! :goodvibes I am going to post my daily plans in just a few days as soon as I work out all of the kinks so maybe we can coordinate something!

That would be awesome!! I'm looking forward to seeing your plans and I'll let you know!

YAY for another trip!!! :goodvibes Great update and way to go giving a healthy lesson to that horribly behaved group of teenagers! I'm sure all the parents on the ride were grateful!

The regular Listerine does make my mouth feel cleaner than anything else, but I just can't handle the burn! I'm right there with Jess and the wimpy Listerine! :rotfl:

I hope we can! I love DIS meets!!

I am going to try to have them all together in the next day or two. Hopefully we can work something out to meet! :thumbsup2

same here!

That's so cool! I can't get over it! :goodvibes

YAY for another trip!!! :goodvibes Great update and way to go giving a healthy lesson to that horribly behaved group of teenagers! I'm sure all the parents on the ride were grateful!

Thanks! We are so excited to go again! We just can't get enough! :lovestruc

I just couldn't resist saying something! I think if I hadn't someone else would have, but I beat everyone else to it!

When I left off we were going to try our luck with weaseling our way into the Plaza without an ADR. Well, did it work? Did we have some pixie dust sprinkled upon us?

We did! :thumbsup2 I was so excited because by then my stomach was eating itself and I really wasn't in the mood for a CS meal. The CM gave us a buzzer and told us we should be called within fifteen minutes. John decided to use his super long Gumby legs and race to get us Splash Mountain FPs for later.

There was actually some seats available at those little yellow tables in front of the Plaza (You know, the ones that are literally NEVER empty?) but I didn't want to steal them since I didn't have food.

John was back before I knew it and I stopped to take a picture of the beautiful front of the restaurant...

AnniversaryTrip250.jpg

...and then our buzzer went off! Yipee! I was ready to chow down!

We were seated and I was instantly in awe of the beautiful decor! I had to take a picture!

AnniversaryTrip251.jpg

See the girl at the table across from us wearing the striped shirt? I had a series of very awkward moments with her. First, she looked at me after I took the picture and I think she thought I was taking a picture of her family. Then, a few minutes later, I was doing that thing where you zone out and stare off into space. Without even realizing it I was apparently staring directly at her, because I came back to earth and saw her looking at me like I was a crazy person. Then, in an effort to prove to her that I was perfectly sane, I kept trying to make eye contact with her so I could smile apologetically for staring. This only proceeded to creep her out even more I think, so by the time she left I'm pretty sure she was looking over her shoulder nervously to make sure I wasn't following. :lmao: Oh well, I'm awkward. I can embrace it.

Aaaanyway, our very friendly waitress came and took our orders. John and I both ordered sodas to drink (mine diet, his regular) and we also both got the steak and cheese sandwiches. The only difference was I ordered mine with all the fixin's and he got his with just meat and cheese. John isn't a big veggie eater. As a matter of fact, if it's not meaty or cheesy or chocolately, he isn't interested.

Our food came pretty quickly. I only took a picture of mine because John's was basically the same, only a little more naked.

AnniversaryTrip252.jpg

The sandwich was VERY good. I am weird and I always tend to regret ordering a steak and cheese after the fact, but I really liked this one. I only ate about half of it though, because I was looking forward to this...

AnniversaryTrip253.jpg

:lovestruc Ohhhh baby. My dessert was an icecream sundae with mint chocolate chip icecream. It was my first Disney dessert of the trip, so of course it was euphoria with sprinkles.

John decided to go with his favorite, the banana split.

AnniversaryTrip254.jpg

The poor split never had a chance. I think it was gone within two minutes. After our meal we settled our bill and headed back out into the park. We both decided we needed a few minutes to digest before riding Space Mountain, so we decide to head to this baby!

AnniversaryTrip255.jpg

I love propping my feet up in the Peoplemover and just relaxing. It's a great way to let my stomach settle and rest my feet!

I took a series of really terrible pictures with my horrible camera while we were riding, but they're really too crappy to share. They're all so blurry it makes it seem like the Peoplemover goes about 200mph!

This was the only halfway decent shot:

AnniversaryTrip260.jpg

Ugh. I need a new camera.

Anyway, after our break we were both ready to use our Space Mountain FPs. Our ride was wonderful, of course! I didn't get to ride in the front, but it was still a blast! :thumbsup2

After our ride through space it was time to use our Splash Mountain Fast Passes. We had twenty minutes before the Electrical Parade started (my second favorite parade after the MNSSHP parade) and we figured we had plenty of time. I even stopped to take another crappy picture on our way.

AnniversaryTrip262.jpg

Plenty of time? Boy was I wrong. And here it is, folks...the first part of my trip report title explained!

So, we get on Splash and everything is going just fine. That is, of course, until we get to the one part of the ride where we're cruising throught the forest. To be more specific, we were directly under the adorable little opossums that are hanging upside down. That's when it happened. We stopped. Okay, no big deal. We've all been stuck on rides at Disney, right? It happens. Over the intercom we heard, "Looks like Brer Fox and Brer Bear are causing some kind of comotion downstream. Please stay in your boats while we take care of things..." We had a nice little chuckle. That Brer Fox and Brer Bear! What kind of shenanigans are those two knuckleheads up to now? Hahaha. Ha. Ha...

Ten minutes later we still weren't moving. By this point we had heard about Brer Fox and Brer Bear's "commotion" about a dozen times. It wasn't cute anymore. Still, we were in good spirits and we started joking around and giggling...

Ten more minutes and we still hadn't moved. By this point I was nervously glancing at my phone and realizing I was missing the first Electrical Parade. John was saying something along the lines of, "aaaany minute now..."

Ten minutes later. We were still stuck. It was muggy and sticky in there and I needed a potty break and John was repeating, "Looks like Brer Fox and Brer Bear are causing some kind of comotion downstream. Please stay in your boats while we take care of things..." with a crazy look in his eye.

A few minutes later a CM appeared out of nowhere on a little platform and told us we'd be up and running any minute. Great. Let's do this. She also told us we would be getting a complimentary FP. Sounds good! All was well...

Ten minutes later we were still stuck, and the ride music turned off. Now all you could hear was the incessant ticking of the opossums moving their little mechanical legs and John mumbling incoherently about the horrible things he was going to do to Brer Fox and Brer Bear.

Finally, after what seemed like a mini eternity, we got going again. HALLELUJAH! After being in that humid "forest" that drop into the cool water was glorious! As we exited the ride we were handed these:

AnniversaryTrip263.jpg

This was a nice compensation, but nothing could compare to being off that ride. I raced to the restroom and when I came out John and I made a pact that if we ran into Brer Fox and Brer Bear we would cause a little "commotion" of our own. :lmao:

Then it was time to decide what to do with our new FPs. I said, "Wanna use them on Splash?" and we both had a nice little chuckle. We decided it would be safer to try our luck on Big Thunder.

Up Next: Would we go on Splash Mountain again? Stay tuned!

Yay another update! :thumbsup2

The Plaza looks so cute! I always want to go there, but then I think about wasting a TS credit on sandwiches and I change my mind. However, Brandon is pretty much obsessed with steak and cheeses. So maybe we should try to go there one day, just so he could have one. Although he'd probably crap all over it, he likes this one certain place to get a steak and cheese from, and whenever he tries a new one, it's never good enough. :sad2:

Oh well, I'm awkward. I can embrace it.

OMG. I love this! I do the same thing, all the time, and do the same awkward smile to try to apologize, and it makes me seem even more creepy. Oh well. It happens! :confused3

I can never get good pics from the Peoplemover either, I'm hoping my new camera is good for that! I'll let you know how it is, in case you want to get one for your next trip!

Wow I can't believe you were stuck on Splash for that long, I would have lost my mind, especially if I had to pee!

Joining in!!! I've been looking for a good TR to devote my time to and i've found it!!! So far read the first post and loving it!! Couple of things:

I'm from North C. too!!! I'm a Lincolntonian :) lol how about you??
UGH, Charlotte and just 77 in general is awful!! I drove again on that recently and it was awful!!! It never ends!!! haha
LOVE me some biscuits and gravy!!! I live in Florida now so I don't get them as often as I'd prefer but I live in Jacksonville and we have only one of the couple Bojangles in Florida and I'm not complaning!!

haha look forward to reading some more!

 I have to wonder what happened that made you guys get stuck on Splash for so long. I think they should have offered more compensation than just fastpasses, but it could have been worse.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed the Plaza! I've been meaning to try it, but I keep deciding to do something else :lmao:

I'm glad that you got into the Plaza! I actually have yet to eat there. But from what you've showed me, the food looks yummy!

Okay, the situation with the staring and the girl? I've TOTALLY done that before. It's so awkward, but what can you do about it?

I'm sorry that you got stuck on Splash for so long. The spiels are really cute the first time you hear them, and then they just get annoying when you hear them over and over and over again. Good lookin' out using the free fastpasses on Big Thunder instead.

I feel like ride malfunctions always seem to happen when you've got something else that you really want to be at shortly after the ride. I can understand how the cute announcement wasn't so cute after awhile.

Looking forward to the next update! :)

Eeeck! I bet the "cute" factor got old real fast after being stuck for 30+ minutes on Splash! I was, however, anticipating such an event for that part of your title... the swimming in sewage part though... I'm a bit more concerned about!

Ahh... nothing, in my opinion, beats Tomorrowland at night!!! :cloud9: "Crappy" pictures or not... it sure looks amazing to me!

Wow! I am surpised they didn't make you evacuate Splash on foot. I was at AK int he spring of '06 when they were doing soft runs for EE, or maybe it had just opened, I don't remember, but we got stuck on the major incline and after about 20 minutes (with the sun beating down on us) they had us walk off. It was kinda interesting, and we also got a FP to use later, which we did. It made that part of EE where the track is "broken" slightly more interesting :lmao:

The regular Listerine does make my mouth feel cleaner than anything else, but I just can't handle the burn! I'm right there with Jess and the wimpy Listerine! :rotfl:

Hahahaha I'm so glad you understand - that's how I feel too! The wimpy one does the trick though, so I'm glad they make it!

HAHAHA I love your story about the awkward moments... don't you love when stuff like that happens? :lmao: So frumpy.
I love the Plaza AND the people mover! Good choices! :thumbsup2
Love that you were able to quote the entire splash mountain maintenance speech. I have heard that quite a few times in my life as well..
Oh my gosh.... that is SUCH a long breakdown! I feel so bad that you missed the parade! At least you got fastpasses... but still. What a.... commotion!

Yay I'm glad you got to go to the Plaza! And :thumbsup2 to John for getting those Splash FP's. Best ride EVER.

HAHAHA poor girl. :lmao: Just kidding. I would totally do the exact same thing.
We're all frumps here. :P

YUM! Ice cream. I love banana splits!

Oooh I really like that picture from the PeopleMover! I love Tomorrowland at night.

HAHAHAHAHA. Why is it that your trip reports always make me laugh like a nut? I love it! I literally burst out laughing at the thought of John going "Looks like Brer Fox and Brer Bear are causing some commotion downstream" like a crazy person. Oh my gosh. Must. Get. Grip. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

HAHAHA again! Brer Fox and Brer Bear are gonna get a whoopin'!

The thing is...I totally would have used mine on Splash. I love it THAT much. Even if I was stuck for an hour with the possums. :rotfl:

I am dying. Still. BRILLIANT update! :thumbsup2

First laugh out loud moment- Ordering a diet coke and then ordering that huge sandwich with a sundae to chase it with.

Second- You and your poor DH getting stuck on Splash with the commotion announcement over and over.

Third- The music turning off and only hearing the clicking of the animatronics. That is quite creepy.

I can only imagine how much laughter the swimming in sewage update will bring.

I cannot lie. I am reading through your posts as I am taking a break at work. And when I read the "ten minutes later....ten minutes later....ten minutes later...." and then you mention the music shutting off, and only hearing the mechanical legs ticking....yeah, I started giggling out loud. One of those moments that I'm sure would drive me INSANE if I was the one stuck, but it just strikes me as so funny. :lmao:

Oh my gosh! I LOVE your awkward time with striped shirt girl! Tooo great! I hate when the apologetic smile makes things worse because there is nowhere to go after that! And then you always keep making eye contact because your both trying not to! Hilarious! .... Well afterwards it is... Not at the time...
You're right, that sundae didn't stand a chance! Boom!
Oh it's so bizarre when you're stuck on a ride and they turn the music off and all your can hear is the clicking of their little eyes blinking and tails and wings moving. For state of the art technology...their blinking is way too loud!
Bahahahaha that Brer fox and Brer Bear will get what's coming to them....
You're too funny!:rotfl:

I'm in :) I found your TR after Jess (Disneyfreak508) referenced your TR. I'm loving your TR so far!

You and your husband seem really cute together! I have a brother that is around your age (he turned 24 on may 20th) and he and his fiancee are going to disney for there honeymoon in december right around christmas time. I have another brother (DB27) who is very country so it is kind of funny to hear all about your country opinons and sayings because he says alot of the same stuff (especially about guns and city traffic.

I like how you referenced the "I'm 2 excited to sleep!" Video :) I think most if not all disney fans sympathize with the kids in the video.

Nice that your drive wasn't 2 bad. I have the same problem with being in a car for 2 long, i ALWAYS get antsy when on road trips which is why i perfer air travel.

I have never actually stayed at universal but all those resorts look nice :) I have only been to universal once but i loved walking through the city walk. Unfortunately we didn't get much of a chance to shop around because we really wanted to get to harry potter land.

Speaking of harry potter land, I am also a huge potter fan! I am defintely the biggest fan in the family (my parents and DB27 enjoy it but don't love it to my level and DB24 only tolerates it because both me and his fiancee are obsessed with HP). I was jumping up and down with excitement when i got to Harry potter land. I would definitely say that WWOHP has a crowd problem.

Cool that you saw the weasley twins! I totally would have spent all day watching them film the commerical. Have you seen what it was that they were filiming yet?

I can totally relate to the not-in disney blues.

Funny about your surprise for your husband about AKL. he must have been excited when he first realized it.

now for the magic kingdom...

love your DH's response to going through tomorrowland versus your reaction. It reminds me of how my dad and brothers react to stuff as an oppose to how my mom, brother's fiancee, and i react.

the plaza ice cream looks AMAZING!!!!!

as much as getting stuck on a ride sucks i do love getting the bonus fastpass. We have actually gotten to exit through special exits before if they don't think the ride will be fixed within a certain period of time. on my lat trip we got stuck on the big thunder mountain cave in scene. as much as it sucked to not get completely through the ride that day,we did ride it more later in the trip though, I did enjoy the behind the scenes tour. they stopped the cave-in after a while as well which was interesting.

Can't wait for more!!!!

I know I'm a little late with following along, but I finally caught up and it looks like a really great time so far! I cannot wait to read about the rest of your trip! :)
