Got stuck on 7DMT yesterday for about 15 minutes no big deal. Except the kid right behind us would not stop screaming as if being murdered. It got to the point were I turned around and said "please stop". The kid screamed louder while his mom sat next to him laughing. I could hear someone a few carts back say seriously stop. Kid kept screaming mom kept laughing... I've been going to Disney for 20+ years never seen anything like it am I crazy?

With 20 years experience at Disney, I'm surprised this is your first weird experience that lasted more than a few moments.

The way some people 'parent' their children is not always as obvious/stupid as an outsider perceives.

Not sayin' this child on 7Dwarfs wasn't annoying, but being a parent also means sayin' that could have been my child doing the screaming.

I'm sure others can add to the list:
-- Blinking 'ears' on a patron at Fantasmic may well have been a strobe light.
-- Poopy diapers on crowded bus rides to/from Parks.
-- Adults cutting in front of small children to get closer to Parades.
-- Inattentive parents not stopping their children from harming others.
-- Collicky children on bus/airplane/boat ride.
-- Vomit (I've witnessed at least three times, once was my own child).

Some things annoy some of us more than others.

Disney is a magical place for many, but that doesn't mean there is a magic potion to prevent annoying stuff from happening.

Truly, I'm surprised it's taken you so long to experience an inconvenience.

Ohh I have had plenty of inconveniences over the years, but I've never seen a parent egg on their child so blatantly was what amazed me. The fact it got to the point the entire train was very annoyed to put it nicely and the mother just kept laughing was disgusting.

So, this was 'just an inconvenience' to the op???? I call it an annoyance that could have easily been stopped by a less rude parent. What some parents think others should have to put up with from their children is truly mind boggling to me!!! :confused3

I'm definitely with you op!

OP, I totally get it. Sure, kids are kids, they act out, have accidents, projectile vomit at the worst times (like Christmas day at a relative's very nice home), etc. However, when the behavior continues, and is not corrected, or is laughed at, or is excused as 'kids will be kids' or 'they're only x years old', NOT OK! My kids are not perfect little drones or anything, but they are considerate and respectful of others, and if they're not, we correct the behavior.

Now, if the kid was really scared, then epic fail by the mom to be laughing. So, either way, big time parent fail!!

The mom might have known there was nothing she could do to get him to stop.
The mom might have been laughing to try to make it seem silly, not scary.
The mom might have been laughing nervously.

How old was the child? And where were you stuck?

That would have drove me nuts too, don't get me wrong.
Just saying there might be other reasons other than she is a jerk.
Or maybe she is a jerk! :)

Poor kid for being scared, poor 7DMT riders for having to listen to the screaming, and poor mom who may not have had her best mothering moment.

I know that I've laughed inappropriately at times during my years of mothering. I hope she wasn't doing it to egg the kid on and that it was coming from a place of trying to make it a more lighthearted event than a traumatic one, but we can never know.

I'm praying that our trip is uneventful in such ways.

We got stuck very high up on California Screamin' once, over ten years ago.
We made a quick stop and I banged my head on the back of the seat.

I was sitting with my 8 year old step daughter. My husband was sitting with my mom. (Late 50s).

My mom is claustrophobic and the over the shoulder harnesses were driving her crazy after about 3 minutes of being stuck. She started to panic and sounded a little hysterical. All of a sudden I hear my husband say sternly, "Mimi, you're going to have to calm down or I'm going to have to knock you out for the good of the group." Not a peep was made by her anymore.

Meanwhile, my 8 year old is whining that she's hungry. It's been about 10 minutes at this point. I feel in my pocket and have a piece of candy. I pass it over to her. All of a sudden I hear her gasp and cough and whisper, "Choking." I, of course, can't move because of the harness. I yell, "Oh my GOD!" and my generally calm, sweet, well-behaved 8 year old quickly says, "I'm just kidding."

Then when we got back to the hotel room I had a severe headache from banging my head on the seat and vomiting the rest of the night. :crazy2: I've had better nights at Disney!

Seriously? You're criticizing someone for saying a child screaming their head off on a stopped ride is annoying? It was an annoying experience, we've all had them in the parks.

This happens to our kids by far the most of what you listed. And I just push my kids ahead of them and the parents look at me like I'm the jerk..... HEY IDIOT PARENTS: You can see right over my child's head! Lets the kids be in the front!

You should have gone to the hospital. You had a concussion at the least, and it could have been much worse.

If you ever throw up more than once after banging your head, please call 911.

Oh no, now you've done it!! Here comes 20+ pages of parade etiquette "discussion"!! :rotfl2::rotfl:

Just a different perspective. I have Cleithrophobia, which is a phobia of being trapped. Being stopped in that tiny little car in restraints would be terrifying for me. I am otherwise a pretty balanced and calm human being but I guarantee you the first thing that I would do is take the rescue meds in my pocket that I keep there for just such an instance, and then I would do deep breathing and hope to god it would ward off the panic attack that was coming. Once that happens, I'll be hyperventilating and crying and it would be really really embarassing.

Now, strange you should mention this because my husband was stuck on Rock'n' Rollercoaster on Monday night for THIRTY minutes. Yep.. half an hour.. and there was a child about our sons age (so 10 or 11) in the row ahead of him who also compeltely freaked out and cried and yelled that he needed off. Because my husband is pretty familiar with my problem, he knew it wasn't just a tantrum. I wasn't on the ride (THANK GOODNESS!!) because there is no way in heck I am being restrained like that with the possibility of being stuck.

Op I don't blame you for being annoyed.. nobody wants to listen to that. But I do feel very bad for the child and wish the mom had tried to comfort and calm him/her rather than just laugh.

OP - why didn't you lead the whole train in a chorus of "Heigh-ho, it's off to work we go"?

I witnessed some similar things this past week. One girl was having a total meltdown because she didn't want to go on test track and she shrieked through the entire queue. Another poor boy screamed and cried the entire time we were on dinosaur. He was scared to death. And while we're on the subject, can I just add this: spoiler alert - your young child does not want to sit through the show. Any show. Stop trying. It won't end well for you or those around you. Thanks.

We were stuck at the last brake before the cottage the ride was over. Yet the kid kept screaming I felt like I was in the twilight zone. He was probably 10-12. Just again I have seen a lot but never a parent literally reinforce bad behavior for 15 mins while others are asking her/him please stop. I think she really found it funny, which is the sad part.

That's when you turn around and scream really loudly in their faces. That happened to me on POTC so I began to scream as if I were being murdered. They stopped. (and so did I)

We were at the Candlelight Processional and my 20 month old granddaughter (who had been pretty good for most of the show) began to whine a little. Not enough to bother anyone but those in the immediate vicinity, but she was winding up, so I grabbed her and headed out. We played at the fountain until the show let out and she was happy. Mom told me when they came out of the show that she would have stopped, but first of all, she's 20 months old, and she doesn't care about Neil Patrick Harris or the CP, and 2, why take a chance on ruining it for someone else? I think people should always be aware of others and they (as well as their family members) should behave accordingly.
