It was Thursday and we'd had a lovely 10 days visiting DD in her job at the Rose and Crown and had packed up, said a fond farewell to the Beach Club (our first visit and how much did we love it there) and were just picking up some bits and pieces from DDs flat before we headed down to the Airport when DD's friend said 'are you sure your flight's still on with the volcanic eruption in Iceland?' We knew nothing about it but 10 minutes later after checking online we headed down to MCO. The queue for check in at the Martinair desk was enormous and nothing was open. They were showing a 2 and a half hour delay on the departures board. About 45 minutes later some Martinair reps appeared and said they hoped to have further info shortly. There followed an announcement at 5.30 that the flight had been cancelled, Martinair were arranging accommodation, dinner and breakfast at the Rosen Plaza on I Drive and that buses would arrive to take us there at 6.30. All very efficient! Nice hotel, lunch with DD at Pointe Orlando and an extra afternoon by the pool. The recent update is that the flight is now re-scheduled for tomorrow at 19.25 and Martinair will foot the bill for another night in the Rosen Plaza although meals are now our responsibility. All very easy and dealt with so well by the Dutch Airline. Just hoping that our connection back to Glasgow works out too (and assuming our Amsterdam flight does indeed go ahead).
