If we buy at BCV and we plan on going on vacation around Christmas time and spring break every year until the kids aren't in school will we be stuck staying at BCV every trip? I understand these are busy times of the year so I guess I'm wondering if we'll ever be able to switch to a studio at say VWL or BWV during these times of year at the seventh month window? (l would always book at BCV at the eleventh month window to be safe but we would like to try to switch ressies every once in awhile to stay at other places.)

Same with VB in the summer. It is important for my hubby to get to go to Dodgertown for a game. (Maybe even spring training once in a while.) VB hard to get in the summer at the seventh month window?

(Starting to worry about buying...)
Thanks!

The 7 month window does work for many. At busy times of the year, you may need to use the waitlist and be flexible with dates and room types.

The DVC reservation system is very dynamic with chnages being made every day. If you are flexible and patient, you can probably get whatever you want.

Enjoy!

Spring break varies greatly - one year I couldn't get it but I was asking really late. the other years I haven't had a problem/

December - what do you mean by Christmas - if you mean the week with Dec 25 in it - then I don't think you will have problem. Now if you mean the first two weeks of December you will have a problem.

If you think you are going to have a problem at all - just go to the trade/rent board on this site and say what you want. BCV is the hot new DVC so I am sure someone will want to trade with you. You make their reservations, they make your reservations.

I am assuming that you will try at the 7month exactly - remember that 60 days before all unrented DVC resorts are treated just like WDW resorts and go to CRO to be rented. So if you wait that long (okay I do) you might have a problem. but even then you can generally get OKW.

If you trade and one needs more points than the other do you just transfer the difference in points?

We would like to go a couple days before Christmas. (But, be back home for Christmas Eve.) This will be during my daughter's holiday break and we just like to go down to see the decorations.
(How hard would VWL be for this time at the seventh month?)

Anyone think VB will be hard to get for summer then?

Out of all the WDW DVC resorts, which one would you want to stay at the most? If you don't think you'll like staying at BCV the most then I wouldn't buy there even though that's what Disney's selling right now. Just my humble opinion.

No, I love BCV when we stayed there. Loved the SAB for the kids and being able to walk to Epcot. BUT... hubby loves WL and we would like to have that as an option. Never stayed at BWV but from the sounds of it everyone on here is in love with the place.
:)

Have you thought about buying VWL through resale? What the heck, buy both BCV and VWL if you can't decide between the two!!!

I think you have a fair shot of switching resorts at the 7 mo window. The only one that I feel would be extremely difficult to get at that time frame would be standard view at BWV.

Remember, there are going to be a lot of others switching at the 7 mo window as well. So you could get someones room at VWL who wants your room at BCV and vice versa. The key is planning in adavance and calling right at the 7 mo. window and utilizing the waitlist if necessary.

LOL! We own at VWL and BCV for just these reasons! Love them both, and now we don't have to decide! :)

As to getting shut out at 7 months, I've been on the waitlist for a studio at VWL in early December since the 8 month mark (Note to self, make these decisions SOONER!). VWL is very popular when the Christmas decorations are up! I'll post if the waitlist comes through. We have a backup at BCV just in case.

In that case, don't forget about buying the VB points too!

Spring is the peak season at VB - the temperature a little hot for summer to be.

I think the points are pretty even betwen VWL and BCV - and yes if there was an unequally trade - you could put some points into the other person account - or sometimes they settled in with cash?

I try not to do the trading though the accounts - because of the once in a year thing - that I don't understand.

What is this about? :)

I was "stuck" at the BCV......A great resort.
It's cold rainy and nasty outside in Michigan.

Go back and read the title to your question. Stuck at BCV forever? We should all be so lucky!!!!! No really, we own at OKW, BCV and VWL. We usually go at school break times. We have gotten VB in early June at 7 months. We got BWV in early June at 7 months. It should be just fine. Take a few deep breaths, blow it out and relax. You will have a great time.

And.................Welcome Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To address the transfer question:

Within your use year you are allowed to either transfer out an unlimited amount of times OR transfer in an unlimited amount of times. You are not allowed to transfer in and transfer out within the same use year.

Also, as you know, banked or borrowed points cannot be transferred and a point transfer is a permanent transaction. That's the reason they don't allow transferring in and out during the same use year.

This transfer rule was explained in detail to me yesterday by MS.

We were at WDW in Dec/02 (Dec 15-22, so just before the Christmas craziness).

We own at WLV, but booked OKW at 7 months (May). Then I had a brainstorm and thought it would be fun to try out BCV or BWV, so called and was put on the waitlist for both - this was probably in June or July.

We were looking for a 2-bedroom (which at BWV at least are in relatively short supply compared to 1-bed and studios), for a few nights (Sun checkin and Wed checkout). An all-or-nothing waitlist request, not night-by-night.

As I recall, it was probably mid/late Oct when MS called and had the BWV available. Had we gone night-by-night we probably could have confirmed things sooner.

HTH, Jeff

We own at BCV and I tried to get some summer nights recently at VWL -- no room at the Inn! I am on a waitlist but in the meanwhile I have gone to Mousesavers, gotten a great code, and booked a cash night. This is always a possibility for you. Try to switch at 7-months, and if nothing is available, you can always add on a cash night or two. This is painless now as the discounts are great. I got $139 for the Lodge.

We have also switched a few times to OKW at the 7-month date and had no problem getting a room. Have done this for Spring Break and also June/July. I always call day-by-day. I have vacation anxiety otherwise! Also just finished renting points from a gentleman here on the Boards. These points will go to November at OKW. The transaction was wonderful and I will have an extra holiday with Mickey. This flexibility makes DVC great, IMO!
