Stucco...anyone know anything about it???

We're buying a house, and have found that it is a wood frame house with stucco. I need to know if this is a decent building material...i.e., especially in the face of a hurricane.

This particular house has survived up to a cat 3...I don't think it has been through anything worse than that.

Any insight or guidance is greatly appreciated.

I would probably say "no" to a wood frame house in a hurricane area. Stucco is just an outside covering, really not structurally helpful as far as I know. Most newer homes here are concrete block and stucco, not wood frame.

Hopefully you will get other (BETTER!) replies...
