So ive got a stroller problem and maybe I can get help. My son just turned 3 in July and is very large for his age. 46" tall 65lbs. My wifes family is huge, 6'5" brother 7' uncle etc and it appears my son is following in their footsteps. That being said he is still a 3 year old and gets tired walking for long periods. He is physically to big for me to carry for long periods. He is very broad so most of the standard umbrella strollers are 13-14" wide and while he can cram into one that is 14" wide its just not comfortable.

Anyone else have this problem and what do you do? I really dont want to dish out $200 for a large jogger as its not something he will use much after disneyland. Is anyone aware of a wider umbrella stroller? 16 inches wide would probably be fine for him. Bigger would be better but we could get by with that.

Also, can anyone recommend some stroller rental places near Disneyland. I could see what they have available and their sizes. Most umbrellas are rated at 55 lbs or less but I think we could get away with that as our crappy one that he crams into holds his weight ok.

Thanks for any ideas.

I don't know if my reply will be of much help but I thought I would offer my suggestions just in case. I was going to suggest a stroller I saw on Amazon for $39 that is like a "deluxe" umbrella stroller but not too expensive but I see that it only goes up to 40 lbs for the weight. It's called the Evenflo X Sport Plus Convenience Stroller in case you want to look at it anyway.

Also, I know that there are strollers used for older kids who have disabilities (like having a wheelchair only they look like big, sturdy, umbrella-type strollers) and I thought i would suggest that you could maybe look into renting one of these but I don't know of a rental place. Maybe someone else here (or on the disability board) can help with places that rent them.

Do you have a Disney VISA? If so, strollers are free at DL. You also might want to consider renting one while in the parks. They seem very sturdy and are the jogger stroller type.

My 11 year old daughter is 55 inches tall and 71 pounds and she can still fit pretty well in a DL rental stroller (she has stamina issues). My 6 year old who is 47 inches tall and 48 pounds and we always get the free Disney stroller (Disney Visa) for her for the second half of our day so she can save her energy for the walk back to the hotel.

The only issue with renting from DLR is not having anything once you are outside the security area of the parks. So if you have a walk back to your hotel, you will probably end up carrying a sleeping 65 pound lump on your back (OWIE!).

Thanks for the replies. We had thought about a Disney Rental. We dont have a Disney Visa so we would need to pay for it and over 7 days we thought maybe we could find one for the same price or cheaper that we could bring home with us but it may be our best option.

Thanks again!

Something I've always wondered about was using a wagon. Has anyone ever seen one? Are they allowed? My son has one of those nice wood sided ones for his boys. We are going to MToTP, and thought it would be nice to haul my GDS around in that. They are 4 and 2 years.

It might be nice if that could work for you too. :goodvibes

I'm having to rethink my stroller options as well. I have a 3 and almost 5 year old boys. I was going to bring our umbrella stroller from home for the 3yo but I think the almost 5yo will probably need a rolling seat as well. Especially after the first few hours. We are considering ordering a 2nd umbrella stroller online ($30) and having it sent directly to the hotel saving us from having the hassle for the 1st plane ride. After the trip, we may ditch the old umbrella stroller and just take the new one home.

Wagons are not allowed. They will stop you at security and make you return it to your car or leave it outside the tents. Seen it happen a couple times.

Ya we looked into wagons as well. That would be ideal and its a shame they dont allow them. :(

Thank goodness. It would be insane if there were wagons all over the park.

DD is 6 (will be 7 October 30 for our trip in November). She is 56 inches and 71 lbs. I know she's and amazon! We have a Jeep umbrella stroller. The handles are taller and it holds her very well. We can't use the shade canapy as it hits her head. We use it all the time at Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas. For this DL trip we are considering leaving it on our last day with a family in the stroller line who may need it

Here here to that! Wagons would be rediculous to manuever around the parks! Strollers are the way to go:thumbsup2

My DD is just 6 and is just over 48", about 50 pounds. She fit without any hassles into the DL stroller when she hurt her foot last week. I offered her a wheelchair or the stroller and she decided upon the stoller. The sign when I rented it for her said up to 75 pounds.

If you have time, it's worth getting the visa just for the stroller rental! They do offer discounts on multi-day rental, not sure how much though.

Just wanted to add that I have read that they will hold your own stroller for you when you rent a stroller in the parks. Maybe you could use a regular cheap umbrella stroller just between the parks and hotel? :confused3

Also, we have a Peg Perego Pliko stroller that has lasted us many trips now. It fold like a umbrella stroller but is much more comfy and wider. I don't know the official weight limit, but on our last WDW trip my dd then almost 8 rode in it a lot (way more than ds 4, LOL) and quite comfortably too. Maybe you could find a gently used one.
