Strollers from Polynesian Concierge

Good Morning all!!

There were some questions regarding obtaining strollers from the Polynesian a few days ago... as we are leaving in 6 days, I emailed them to inquire about them.

Melissa from Poly Concierge (who has been very prompt in replying to me, by the way) advised me that strollers ARE available on a first come, first serve basis from Concierge. She told me that you have to put a $250 deposit voucher down. When you return the stroller, they rip up the deposit voucher.

Now, here is my concern. Last year when we rented strollers directly from the parks, I had mine taken on more than one occasion! I would really hate to have to pay $250 for a stroller because another guest felt the need to "borrow" it  I really don't want to bring our stroller from home - it is such a pain lugging it through the airports, etc. Has anyone had a stroller from the Polynesian taken, how was it handled?

The stroller we used had the Polynesian Resort logo on it. I never worried about someone taking it. If you are a bit concerned you could always buy a lock for the stroller. Have a great trip:)

Hi Dagny,

My advice would be to tie something "personal" on the stroller like a bandana or scarf or a balloon, etc. I've always heard that people are less likely to take a stroller that has a personal item on it versus an "impersonal"/looks-like-all-the-rest-type stroller.

Thanks for your responses. Mirlow - thanks, didn't know it has the Poly logo on it - that should help (or one would think).

Kimberly - can you believe that we did have personal "stuff" on the stroller last year - I had one taken TWICE at MGM. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper! Of course, the rest of our touring day, I was on the hunt for that stroller, LOL :D

Dagny,

You weren't planning to take the Poly's stroller to the parks, were you? I didn't think so! You should be fine then.

I thought it sounded like she was going to take it to the parks.
When we had our 2000 Poly stay the canopy came off of our umbrella stroller. DS was 2. I checked into the Poly stroller, but that $250 voucher scared me off (come one, I never paid more than $25 for an umbrella stroller, and never took a bigger one to WDW.) We bought one for our 2001 trip when DS was 3 and took it again in December--will take it again in July--I know he will be 4, but he can still run out of steam, and it makes it actually easier in airports, on the BW, etc. to have it. Plus we use the basket a lot in the parks.

I shipped my stroller to the GF and timed it such that it would arrive on the same day as I checked in. I have done that a few times without any problems. Maybe you could consider doing the same thing? Just a thought.

Yes, I was actually going to take it to the parks, but now I am thinking I am better off just taking mine from home! :)

What's the sense in using it if you aren't bringing it too the parks? I wouldn't worry too much about it being stolen. Even if it did, I'm sure the CM's at Polynesian would be understanding. I can't imagine them really demanding $250. I think it's just to scare people into thinking twice before stealing a stroller or deciding to leave it in a park just because it was inconvenient to go back and get it.

We are also staying conceirge, but the fact that it's a first come, first served basis made me decide to take my own. I can't risk not having one while we're there.

I was just trying to raise the issue in a gentle way. How does the Polynesian staff expect you to use the stroller? If they *expect* you to take it to the parks, then it's certainly OK to do so! On the other hand if they expect you to only use it around the resort(s) then you should respect their wishes. All you have to do is ask!

Do their strollers look the same as the park strollers? If so it might be awkward to take it *out* of a park as it would look like you were removing a park stroller. The rental receipt would be good to have in that case.

Having stayed in Poly concierge several times, I have not had super luck with their loaner strollers. This past April I was told that they have 2 jogger strollers and 2 small standard strollers. Two of these strollers were broken at the time and one needed to be thrown out. I don't know if I would depend on the loaner stroller, especially if it was first come, first serve. Have a great time at the Poly, it's our favorite! Threehearts

There were about 6 strollers there just two weeks ago. But they are first come first serve so you run the risk of not having one for your whole stay. They did tell my sister they only had one then the next day they had the 2nd (twins) when they said they would not have it for a few days. That said we took two strollers to the all the parks last year and this year and never had a problem. Have fun!

We just got back from Poly and we had one of those jogger's stroller from concierge. On the stroller, there is a lock and key that we can use to lock the stroller.

Hi,

We used strollers from the Poly last year and this year. We never had a problem with anyone taking them. Some also have locks on them. They do have the Poly logo on them. They are on a first come first serve basis. We needed 2 and they only had 1 available and told me they would call when the 2nd would become available. They didn't call, I just happened to see some in the lobby and asked if I could have one. They worked out fine for us. Have fun.

Susan :)
