Stroller security

I found a ginormous orange luggage tag that I put on the handle. I also attached a stroller caddy to the handles to keep sippy cups and water bottles. There were a lot of strollers identical to mine so I'm glad I personalized it a bit.

We leave in 2 days & will be bringing our Bugaboo Bee. I have heard of strollers being stolen so I was contemplating not bringing it, but it is the one our DD loves & naps VERY well in.
For identification purposes we will do the luggage tags & write our name on the stroller. For theft purposes, I wanted to do the bike lock thing (which BTW I do not think is insane when you pay a lot of money for a stroller) but our wheels are not able to accommodate a lock. So we are taking the front wheels right off.

We didnt mark our double Maclaren at all but I think tying a balloon to it might be the most helpful in helping to find it when the CMs move the stroller then you can look above the sea of strollers for the balloons and really not too many had them tied to them. I am sure that strollers have been stolen before but I don't think it is happening frequently. I decided the first day I couldn't worry over that cause you had to leave the thing so I just hoped for the best!

Dawn

First we have never had any trouble but that could be because my hubby decorates the stroller with battery operated mini christmas light etc.. (we went at Christmas last time lol) We have taken our high end stroller 3 times now and it hasn't been a problem (knock on wood).

But.. I had to comment on the balloon thing.. first day of our last trip I thought ok lets get each of the kids (2) the biggest coolest balloon they can find... it will a good treat for them and serve as a great way to identify out stroller from a distance after a CM has moved it.. ummm bad idea. After the first day they stayed at the house! First they blew behind as we were walking and got in everyone's way.. so we tied them shorter and they blew right in the face of the person pushing the stroller.. if they hadn't cost an arm and a leg I would have popped them right there! LOL

We took our stroller back in December. I wrote our last name on the legs of the stroller in black sharpie, and we attached a disney luggage tag to the carry handle on the side of the stroller. We ended up getting 1st visit buttons the 2nd or 3rd day there and pinned one of those to the shade canopy.

And we always parked the stroller in designated stroller parking areas.

I always left my bag on it- filled with such nonsense as spare underpants for teh little guy and rain ponchos, nothing of value. I think stolen strollers are more often mistaken identity, not theft. I have only heard of one stroller theft in my excessive board reading (and 1 stroller swap, the PP on this thread).

I wonder if that was my story. My sister's MIL bought two cheap umbrella strollers to take to Disney for her two grandaugters. They got in line for a ride or show, and when they returned one of the strollers were gone. They searched the whole line of strollers, talk to the CMs, and searched lost and found. No stroller to be found and there wasn't one just like it left, other than the other stroller they had. Luckily, it was their last day so it wasn't a problem the rest of the week.

Ours was stolen - but at DisneyLand Paris. After many trips to WDW without having any problems we didn't think about stoller security at our recent DLP trip. When we came out of PoC it wasn't in stroller parking and we checked EVERYWHERE. We reported it at city hall and were told - Yes, that happens often with American "pushcarts". So, learn from our mistake if you go there. The rest of the experience was great though - Very fun to visit Mickey's French Cousin - as my DS4 said!
