Does anyone have a recommendation for a stroller rain cover? We're going in October. Everything I've seen so far is either really expensive (more than $30) or cheap junk. I have a Chicco Trevi.

This may sound crazy but I read the tip on these boards. When my boys were little(they are teens now) we would take a cheap plastic clear shower curtain($2.00) and tie it to the back of the stroller and keep it there so when we went on rides we would just flip it over and cover the stroller and tie it in front. We always went in the summer and those showers pop up fast. It was cheap and worked great.

personally i'd just get a cheapo on ebay. the amount of actual use it gets on a trip isn't worth a lot of money to me. if it is going to rain the entire day (a rarity in FL), then i wouldn't be trekking around outside anyway. For the more likely quick downpour, a cheapo should be fine. After all, i would expect you just need it long enough to find cover inside somewhere.

We have one of those $$$ rain covers...
Don't waste your money!!

Buy a disney adult poncho.. buy it on ebay or disneystore.com and save money..
We were in the park and got caught in a down poor..
I ran into a buy a poncho for myself and notice a women putting one on her stroller.. I asked her if it work.. and she said, its the only thing that keeps out the water 100%

I have to agree.. The poncho has snaps you so can snap it around the stroller handle & other bars.. Works GREAT! took the same poncho back for our trip in 2008 and left in on the stroller when we went to go to B&B in DHS..
everyone's stoller around us was soak.. Ours..... Dry as a bone!

Also DD was stroller napping and a down poor hit.. DD never got wet and got a nice long nap..

Ps.. I perfer the clear ones.. this way i can see if DD and not worry to much..

We've done this, and I agree it is the cheapest and best solution.

Keep in mind, you only to cover a small portion of the stroller (where the child sits). No need to cover the legs, wheels, etc. A poncho could be double-packed over the opening, while still buttoning around a leg or two to stay in place.

I used a dollar store poncho, and I brought a chip clip along to keep it in place. Worked very well.

the one you got at the dollar store was it a havey duty plastic or like a trash bag kind??

The light trash bag kind tend to rip easy.. If you are planing to use it alot or or for more then one trip buy the disney one!

Also you really need a heavy vinyl kind if you plan are walk far..ex: out of the park to the bus. More chances of it getting step on or caught in the wheel.
I caught the disney one in the stroller wheel and did not rip!

However you could buy 2 dollar ones incase one rips & would probly be ok..
I guess its just out how much it could rain on the OP trip..

Also we still use our disney poncho at home for a rain cover.. And it will be coming on our next trip! That makes 3 trips we have used it.. and it has lasted over 4 years..
It is in the back pouch on stroller.. I love my rain cover/ disney poncho!!

Thank you for the tips! I'm trying to imagine how the poncho would fit on the stroller. Would the neck hole be over the stroller handles?

Easily. The problem however lies in how to secure the other end. Not all ponchos have buttons at the bottom to secure around a handle or back of the stroller. But if not, you can always just tie the other end down somewhere near the front of the stroller.

I used a cheap one everyday when we were there in May. The brand was Baby King. It was given to me as a gift but I have seen them at Burlington Baby Depot and in grocery stores. They only cost a few dollars.

It was perfect. It tied on to the back of the stroller and never ripped. I'll probably bring it back for our trip next year.

the neck hole with our stroller ends up about 1/2 up the sun shade.. but the hood ends up covering the hole so no water gets through..

Also my dd sticks her head of it if we pull the sun shade back.. this way she can see what going on...
I hope this makes since.. i'm going to take a pic later tonight and post it for you..

Hi! This is what we did, and it worked out awesomely.

We had a decent poncho from the dollar store (like a $3 poncho-so high end for the dollar store) we ripped it/cut it so it was one large sheet and used binder clips to secure it. Worked like a dream, kept everything in a zip loc bag in between uses, binder clips rock. Please keep in mind that we fashioned this on the fly, so we were rather proud of ourselves!;)

So here are the pics of the poncho on the stroller....

Sorry about the plush toy.. DD was already in bed..
Needed to show how a child could stay dry and still be able to see..

I went to BRU the other day to see about getting one of these. I had a 20% off coupon. I have a Graco DuoGlider and the cover was $24.99 online. I agrued with myself for about 30 min in the store about wether to waste the money or use a poncho. I decided at the end to get it and when i went through the checkout lane it rang up on clearance for $7.99 with an extra 25% off of clearnace, so I got it for $6.40!!!!! It was even Graco brand, only 2 of them there with the BRU brand one that was probably really $24.99!! YAY me!

I agree with the other posters, a rain poncho is the way to go! Don't use an inexpensive Dollar store one, use a heavier one.

When I had two young sons, we bought a Disney poncho and put it over their stroller. My son actually "wore" the poncho (head peeking through!) while the rest went over the stroller. Worked like a charm and I still have that poncho, but not the stroller!

I agree. Make sure it is a heavier vinyl poncho. I was able to find one at the dollar store. I would not use the $0.88 ones from Wal Mart, they rip very easily.

Thank you for the picture! That looks perfect! I love the idea that my ds's head could fit through the hole so he can at least see out when it's raining. That's awesome! I really appreciate your help!

ok, my stroller is parked with the poncho over it.
We go on a ride because it is still sunny but it started to rain.

What are the chances of that poncho still being on that stroller when I return?

I bought a vinyl table cloth and clothes pins at the dollar store. Plan to use that over the stroller if/when we need. We can also use it to sit on during parades.
