We are thinking of bring our own stroller for those late night treks back to the resort. Does anyone have thoughts about how to secure the stroller in the parks while on a ride? In the past we just rented and never worried nor did we have any problems. But if we are using our own, I would hate to see it come up missing.

I haven't used them, but there is a banner that pops up here on the dis for this place: http://www.orlandostrollerrentals.com/ and they seem to have very reasonable prices (and you can insure it for like $20) - that way you don't have to worry about yours getting taken.

Other than that - I dunno how you could secure it - especially since CM's need to be able to move them sometimes.

Could you maybe get an inexpensive one to take with you or join one of the stroller swaps on the budget board?

The more I think about it the more I am leaning towards just renting one and getting the insurance. Thanks for your thoughts.

I've taken my own and I've rented in the parks. I would rent in the parks. Taking your own is difficult on transportation. (Nothing like closing it up and handling it on a bus/tram, etc. while it is raining sideways! It has gotten expensive to rent at the parks, but you can get a discount for multiple days.

There is very little theft in the parks. Thousands of people a day including myself use or have used strollers without "locking" them and haven't had them stolen.

If it were a real problem don't you think every other thread on this board would be about someone having their stroller stolen? I have heard of a few instances involving extremely expensive strollers but they are few and far between and even rarer with normal strollers.

I would put it very far down on my list of things to worry about.

Ive always taken my own stroller. Just dont leave anything in it you dont want to lose. One time, we bought a balloon and put it on the stroller. Made it easier to find but inconvenient at night returning on the bus.

Last time I went, we rented one. It was so hard too. no basket. I had taken clorox wipes and a towel, i wiped it down and put the towel down so she wouldnt get stuck to the plastic (june) I sooooooooo missed my stroller when we had to carry her asleep and walk to the bus and from the bus to the room. I'm taking my own from now on.

We've taken our own stroller each time and haven't had ours stollen. I usually tie an bright ribbon to it so that we can find ours. Plus we always remove our items from the basket to prevent theft. Just make sure that you place your stroller in stroller parking each time to help discourage it being moved.

I ahve heard of people going to the extreme of placing a lock on one wheel (just snaped shut through the tire, not attached to anything) to discourage someone form moving it with a constant thub, thuD. Or tying a plastic bag with a wadded up diaper and a dose of dark soda to look like apoopy diaper. But I've never actually seen anyone go to that extreme.

We've taken our strollers each time and never had them get stolen. First time we had umbrella strollers that I don't imagine anyone would really want. Last year, we had a more expensive single with us and no-one bothered it.

Hi

I just got back and we took our mac volo. We never had a problem or worried about someone taking our stroller. A few days we parked it and left it for a few hours. I will say that I saw several families that rented complaining to cast members that someone had walked off with their stroller, but that can easily happen since they all look alike. I'm glad we brought the umbrella stroller instead of renting. It was easier to navigate crowds, tight spaces, and board transportation, including the main street train in magic kingdom.

We just got back 2 days ago from a week in WDW. We rented through Orlando Stroller Rentals and I can't say enough wonderful things about it. We have a 3 1/2 year old son and our daughter turned 2 while we were there. We rented their double (side by side) Citi Mini stroller. It folds quick & simple -- like a dream and was very easy to fold quickly to get on the trams in the parking lots. It cost under $100 for the week. They're cloth and very comfortable for the kids. And a HUGE PLUS these stroller have that the park ones are missing (other than being cloth and more comfortable) is that they recline back for napping. HUGE HUGE HUGE for us. If we'd rented the park strollers I don't think my kids would have slept. It was clean and like new. The sun canopy's were nice too. The stroller was also very easy to maneuver. Having your own stroller to leave the park with is also huge....especially if they're sleeping or very tired.

We also rented a crib for our 2 year old from A Baby's Best Friend (www.abbf.com). The crib assembled in our hotel room (pop century) within 10 minutes -- no tools needed. Our daughter slept soundly and very well in it, just like at home. The pack n play would not have cut it and she's still a bit too small for the beds.

Best of all, both company's deliver these items to the luggage room of your resort (or where ever you're staying). You drop them back off at the luggage room upon departure. A bell hop brought the crib to our room and came to get it upon departure as well, which made life much simpler. :) Best of luck!

We drive, so bringing our stroller was not a problem. We had a double stroller (front/ back) and never had an issue. Depending on the ride, we even left the diaper bag in there occasionally. We left rain ponchos and water bottles in the bottom of it and never had any problems. I was paranoid and placed hidden labels on the stoller so that I thief would not find them all and we could recover the stroller. But, it was never a problem (only to remove them when we sold at yard sale) and with the money that people pay to get into Disney, it is doubtful they would risk being evicted or banned for a $50. stroller.

Update - We just made reservations to rent a stroller and have it delivered to the resort. To be fair I am not sure if I can say the name of the company. If anyone is looking at renting, my advice would be do the math. You will find the savings to be pretty good. Thanks to all for the comments.

We've always brought our own stroller, and have had no concerns about theft in the parks...except on the rare occasions where my DH has left my wallet in the basket of the stroller.
