Hey All,
I never noticed this before in the parks and was wondering if anyone can help me out... Are all the strollers are the same? (ie: for infants - toddlers- big kids....)
Thanks!

Yes they are the same, but I have seen a seat part added to one to be able to carry an infant.

Oh, and a late Congrats on the birth of your son! That is exciting! (I'm due in June!)

We found that all the strollers are the same. Because of that, I brought along my own stroller for the first three years. When my son turned 4, we decided we would just rent a stroller from Disney.

I would like to pass along a few stroller tips I have learned over the years.

If you are going during rainy season, you should purchase a poncho for the stroller too. The stroller parking is hardly ever under cover and will be exposed to the elements. You can use the poncho to cover the stroller.

I also brought along a beach towel to put in the seat of the stroller. This helped to absorb the heat and kept the seat a little cooler.

The castmembers frequently tidy up the stroller parking area. Do not be surprised if you park you stroller in one spot, go on the ride, come out and your stroller is in another spot. Don't panic, just luck around and you'll find your stroller. I used to tie something bright to the handle of the stroller to help me identify it in a crowd. Bright red, orange, green, yellow grossgrain ribbon works well. A handkerchief also works well. Do not, under any circumstances, tie a balloon to the handle. You'll soon get tired of the balloon hitting you in the face and you'll be ready to poke a hole in it by the end of the day.

If you choose to rent a stroller from Disney and you're planning on being in the parks for several days, ask the stroller rental cashier if there is a weekly plan in effect. This is not something Disney advertises but they often will offer a weekly rental.

At the end of the day, you can take the stroller back to the main stroller rental location and get a $1.00 back. Believe you me, it's not worth the $1.00! We just clean out the stroller and leave it in the stroller parking area.

Hope you guys have a super great trip with that pretty little child of your's.

Lisa

Just trying to help ... I thought it would be a good idea to provide correct and up-to-date info ....

There isn't a "weekly" rental, meaning you don't have to rent for an entire week to get a discount. It's a "multi-day" rental, meaning anything more than 1 day. You must pay in advance and in full, but in exchange for that you get two advantages: $2/day discount on the rental fee, and ability to skip the long "pay" line after you initially pay for the multi-day rental (this second one will save you a lot of time each time you pick up a stroller).

Also, sometime between my May 2005 trip and my November 2006 trip, WDW did away with rebating one Disney Dollar to people nice enough to return the stroller where it belongs rather than leaving it just anywhere.

What is the daily rate for stroller rental? We have always brought our own. This year we are considering renting.

Thank you all so much for you help and tips... i am writting them all down and look forward to our upcoming trip. I hope my little guy enjoys WDW as much as his parents do! :rotfl:

The strollers are all the same, but you have the option of getting a single or double so you can push up to two kids at once.

The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World (available at most libraries) has some fantastic insight as to whether you should use a Disney stroller or bring your own.

I believe the conclusion was something like... Type A moms with a stroller "system/routine" and/or people bringing infants should use their own stroller. More relaxed moms or people with toddlers/kids should use a Disney stroller.

Before any discount, singles are $10/day and doubles are $18/day.

I have rented before & the only downsides were the strollers did not recline for sleeping & if you go anywhere besides the parks you don't have a stroller:eek: !! DTD does have them though.
This year we are planning to rent a doule for my 6 & 4 yr old boys & bring a light weight deluxe umbrella (Macclaren) for our then 13 mnth old son. Being away & in a new sleeping enviornment can throw naps for a loop & it will be nice to have a stroller for walks at your resort etc. You can always rent too. Have a great first trip w/ your little guy!!:goodvibes
