Stroller Question - I need opinions please

We are headed to WDW in Sept and had planned to use Orlando Stroller Rentals for a double jogger for our girls. However, I have the opportunity to purchase an instep double jogger for the same price as the rental and my logic is telling me that buying for that price is a smarter move.

Here is my question - the double that we found has a fixed front wheel instead of a swivel. Will this be too difficult to maneuver in the parks?

The crowds in Sept are not bad at all since most of the kids have gone back to school. Normally I would say YES it would be difficult trying to get around people all day..but again since the crowds shouldn't be too bad..you should be ok.

The one good thing about renting, even though its so much now adays..is if you plan on taking Disney transportation, its a pain to sit comfortably with a double stroller folded in front of you. Renting will save you the hassle!

You'll manage. You won't be moving at jogging spead or need to turn on a dime. I had the non-swivel head before they came out with the swivel and still thought it was terrific to use. For tight turns just pull the front up a bit and make your turn.

Like the other poster said, it's the busses that will be a chore. But if you're planning on renting a car that may be a moot point.

just had to say, we rented a double from Orlando Stroller Rentals and i loooooooooooooooved that stroller. are you flying or driving? if you're driving i'd say go ahead and buy a double. if you're flying (like we did) it is a HUGE hassle to fly with any stroller let alone a double. i had a lot of damage done to my phil and ted's stroller the couple times i flew with it so there was no way i'd want to fly with a stroller again.

A friend gave us a double jogger with a fixed wheel (it's a Baby Trend, about 6-7 years old) and I can't stand it! Walking around our neighborhood and making a lot of turns is a pain in the butt. I wouldn't have been happy at Disney with it (we went in Dec. and brought two umbrella strollers for our girls), JMHO.

How heavy is it? This is important if you are using the buses at WDW.

I bought a single Schwinn Jogging stroller and thought I would use it for WDW. It had the swivel wheel, but it was so big and heavy. I took it back.

I ended up getting a Perego P3.

Have you looked into some of the other strollers? I know a lot of people love the Maclarens. It might be more expensive if you want a double stroller.

The locked front wheel would drive me crazy. I would rent the one with the swivel wheel. You pretty much have to tip the thing back to turn it when the wheel doesnt swivel.

I personally would never want to use a locked front wheel in a place like Disney. Even though crowds will be lower, it is still going to be difficult to maneuver.
If you are flying, good luck. The airline dropped our stroller from the plane and snapped the side rear wheel off. They do not cover it. They denied dropping it anyway- said it happened during cargo shifting in flight. So we were stuck trying to get 2 toddlers and all our luggage through an airport with a broken stroller.
If you are using Disney transportation there is nothing easier than the strollers from OSR. The jogger you have will be heavy and cumbersome for folding and take up a lot of space.

To me, the ease of the OSR strollers is worth the price. Which is cheap compared to renting elsewhere.
