I plan on checking my large Graco Quattro stroller at the gate right before I board the plane, is there a limit to the size they will except? It folds down but is a little big

They should take it no problem. We have flown with ours, we did some tweeking to it because they really are not that carefull with them and we flew in feb so we really didnt want anything to break. We took the cup holders off the top and put it in our carry on for the flight. I don't know about yours, but mine likes to come undone with the red latch, we brought a couple of bungee cords with us to keep it shut while it was on the planes. Came back with one stress point, but all in all came out ok.

Hi there neighbor!
We always gate check our stroller; we used to take the quattro too but we ended up getting a literider for our WDW trips; it's waaay lighter but has the same storage and goes all the way back for DS's naps. We never had any trouble gate checking either, and they were always waiting for us when we got off the plane.

Just another vote for no problem! I used to take my travel system stroller and gate check it. Until I realized what a pain in the butt it was trying to get it on and off the transportation at WDW. Now, I have an umbrella stroller. Actually, there was another thread where there was a Maclaren Volo for $55 on ebay - and it was new!!

We have actually flown with our Quattro duo-glider and had no problems. The gate check handler actually told us it weighed 62 pounds. We had no clue! We will be taking it down to Disney in a couple of weeks, no worries.

Well my son is 43 lbs so hard to find a "stroller" that will accomadate him, he is tall as well so he looks so crazy in a stroller. I might have to look into something else because somebody mentioned about getting in on and off the bus which I totally forgot about, it will be heavy and bulky.

If you have any ideas for strollers for 3 year olds who weight around 43 lbs, just post them and I will ask around and see if I can borrow one.

I gate-checked my Graco many times, no problem. For the PP, I just flew today with a Maclaren and LOVE it for my older kids as well as my little one. Handles my 5-year old just fine and I can still steer with one hand. I got a gate-check bag off of Walmart.com for it and boy, am I glad I did. That thing was filthy (and torn) when I got it at the gate, but my stroller was still in perfect shape. Totally worth the $13 I paid for it!

Any of you who have had no problems flown on Air Tran? Just hoping we will have the same luck as the rest of you.

We flew Airtran last Oct. & took our Graco Quattro & had no problems. We are taking it this year too.

My mil made a canvas cover for it & it looks even bigger. We made a comment when we got off the plane to the attendant, "oh nobody took it." and he says "Who would want to, it's so big" :)
