stroller for each child?

We will be going to DL this summer with two babies in two strollers, so I certainly am not a stroller hater.
If your little one is not using the stroller, then of course I would put my stuff in it. But it seems that some are saying that they take a stroller even though they have no little ones, just to push their stuff around in.

My kids are 9, 7 and 11 months, so obviously not a stroller hater. I just think to bring one for "stuff" is inconsiderate. I would not bring one for my 9 or 7 year old as they are old enough to walk. Just like previous pp said, "disney is not a grocery store". Just be considerate, that is all people ask for. Don't you think it's busy enough?

Actually we were hit by more backpacks than we were by strollers. Bring what works best for you and your family. I actually had quite a few people comment what a great idea it was to use the stroller to carry stuff. As a Physician, I can tell you it is not healthy for people to wear backpacks all day. It is quite hard on the spine.

Please, I have been hit by more strollers from behind and had to walk around strollers and run into them than I can count. Bringing a backpack is much less offensive, so don't let anyone tell you it is more polite to clog up the park with an extra stroller because people either bring way too much stuff or are too lazy to carry their own stuff. Ridiculous. I can't see physician saying that it is hard on the body for a backpack, but will ask mine when I see him tomorrow. Sad that someone would say that just to try and make their point seem more important.

Also, by the pp "physician views" everyone should take a stroller to DL whether they have kids or not because they shouldn't carry a back pack. Wouldn't want to be there on one of those days.

I am not going to get into an argument with you over the fact that I am a Physician. You have your opinions and I have mine. Backpack safety is a huge issue for me and something that I work with schools on for educating their students about.

One of my daughters was nearly knocked to the ground by someone wearing a backpack and they didn't even notice they hit her with it. She got no apology or even a second glance. I was backed up into on several occasions by people wearing backpacks because they either forgot or weren't paying attention. Maybe there were just extra rude backpack wearers in the parks those days, I don't know. I do know that I did not hit anyone with our stroller and my family was not hit by any strollers.

The OP asked for opinions, we are all entitled to give our opinion. I base my opinion on backpacks on spinal biomechanics. Pushing a stroller that is too short is also not good for the spine.

As for whether or not anyone should push a stroller (to carry a child or whatever) or what size a stroller is acceptable is up to each individual family and should not matter to anyone else. Quit worrying about making others feel bad because they don't meet your opinion of "need" or "size" of stroller.

Also, by the pp "physician views" everyone should take a stroller to DL whether they have kids or not because they shouldn't carry a back pack. Wouldn't want to be there on one of those days.

People with small children (small enough to need a stroller) end up carrying more stuff that your average adult because you have to carry all the stuff for your kids, too. Carrying one water bottle, a snack and a hoodie in a backpack - no problem, multiply that by 3, add two autograph books, a change of clothes for the kids, etc... and you have a really heavy backpack.

coaches24, you are right, not going to have this argument again, there is no point and it's not even useful.
isatricia, you are truly saying that everyone that plans on bringing a backpack (w/ or w/o kids) should bring a stroller to carry their stuff to not hurt their back. You don't think that sounds ridiculous?
Also, everyone has their story: backpack hit my child, stroller ran into my child, etc. I don't think that is the question. The question is whether to bring a stroller to carry your stuff. That is what I think most people find rude.

Also, it's not only about who you ran into, it's about the people behind you that you kept cutting off or who couldn't get around you. I find that much more annoying. While there is no way to avoid a stroller with little kids, you can certainlly avoid it by carrying your own stuff. Also, I have kids and bottles and sweaters, etc. so we my DH brins a backpack and I bring a good sized messenger bag to hold two water bottles, passes, etc. Just be considerate. Very simple.

We will use a City Mini Double stroller in January for our DD7 and DS3. Saving their legs on a long vacation (6 nights for us) means more energy savings and happier kids. It's worth the $80 to rent one if you don't own one.

I never once said that everyone should bring a stroller. Everyone can choose to bring what works best for their family. A stroller works best for my family - not only because it is easier than carrying the stuff but also because it is healthier for our bodies. I see NOTHING rude or inconsiderate for anyone to push a stroller around DL (or anywhere else), no matter what it is for or how big it is. That is my opinion both personally and professionally.

OP, if you think you might need a second stroller for you child or for stuff, feel free to bring it. You may find you love having it. You may find you don't need it and you leave it in the room the rest of the trip. Most people in the parks are "live and let live" type and don't presume to tell you that you are rude for pushing a stroller - with or without a child in it.

I have noticed that the whole dynamic of DL has changed dramatically since I first went over 50 years ago. The changes are very subtle and unfortunately have not been for the better.

On our last trip, we did bring one stroller for each child and that worked really well for our family. My four year old who was easily overwhelmed by crowds really appreciated the ability to periodically escape to her own "private space" that was her stroller. My smaller than average six year old also appreciated the rest that the stroller gave his legs as we were making the trek to the parks from the DLH. We used one stroller that was a step up from an umbrella stroller that had a cup holder and basket. Our other stroller was just our regular stroller. We're convinced that having both of those strollers made our time in Disneyland far more enjoyable than it would have been with just one stroller, or none at all.

However, the family we traveled with, who also had a four and six year old, spent the whole time without any strollers, and that worked fine for them too. One of their children is the type that never runs out of energy, so he was happy to walk everywhere. Their four year old did fine too. OP, it probably depends on your kids as to what will work best for you.

I agree. I am amazed not only that there is 'stroller parking' but that it takes up SO MUCH real estate around Disneyland.

I absolutely agree that if your kids, no matter what age need them, then of course, bring them. Mine won't at 9 & 7, but that's just my kids. If they need them, I would bring one. I just think it is entirely unnecessary and inconsiderate to bring one for your stuff, no matter what anyone else says.

We have rented 2 strollers at DL many times. I believe when my oldest was 6 & in kindergarten he had a DL jogging stroller. We hit the parks from opening to close & it's a tremendous amount of go time for young ones . I also liked the fact that when my kids were in strollers I didn't have to worry about them darting off & me losing them in a crowd.
I think our trips when are kids were younger were much more enjoyable when we rented strollers. An exhausted kid is usually not much fun!

Since you are flying, we used gogobabyz.com. This was a thing that hooked onto the carseat to turn it into a stroller. You have to take it off the carseat when going thru sercurity, but it made it so much easier. It was also something we took for granted especially the one time we forgot to bring the gogobabyz.

Then, you can rent a stroller if need be.

I HATED pushing my sit n' stand around anywhere.

Yes one I have (fisher price)is huge and hard to manage, but my Joovy has made 2 trips in WDW plus different trips elsewhere with no problem it is lighter then most single strollers (19lbs!)

For anyone who is interested, that's why I bought the umbrella stroller I did at One Step Ahead. It is taller than the normal one so my 6' DH has zero issue pushing it or kicking the wheels. It also has a soft gear holder between the handles that you can use for some drinks and a small basket. Sunshade is for crap though. But it was about $40 if you're looking for something a bit better than standard but won't break the bank.

This is one I will look into for DS on the next trip, my other 2 will be 10 and 7, and should not need one, but might take the joovy for one last trip. We will see.

JMO .......As for strollers in the park I am just wanting to point out that it is a inconvinence for some in the park to get around them, but whats worse a small child darting in and out of people while a parent tries to catch them, or a stroller you can see? On more then one time I have had many people not watching where they were going and actually trip over my stroller and almost land on my child. was totally not my fault they were to busy on their phones or talking to watch where they were going. So I make a point to be nice and try not 'cut' people off, its just how I was raised I guess, everyone has a right to be there we all paid the same amount for our tickets. popcorn::

um sit and stand stroller.... or rent the double stroller at the park. Do what will work for your family- don't take what others say about strollers to personal. I also would not want to lug around a backpack. Or carry a child for half the day in heat or rain etc. I love storing all our crap under our stroller- I feel more prepared for those little ER ... without having to track my way to the front to a locker. If I was traveling with out children- I would not bring a stroller to lug my crap around- just saying. :thumbsup2
