I haven't been to WDW since 1999 and am hoping to go back next year. I was wondering how throughly bags are checked. When we went before (pre 9/11) we were able to take in a diaper bag with a few snacks and a small cooler with my son's milk, etc. Just curious how things are now. We will have a stroller this time too.

Security will at least peak into each bag - some of the guards are more thorough then others. There should be no problems bringing in anything you listed.

No glass bottles-not sure if that also applies to baby bottles. Haven't been with a child that needs a bottle.

Yes, the security can be picky. They want all bags opened up and ready for checking-including your fanny pack that you can't keep on you. It moves quite quickly, they have both sides of the table open so you do have a bit of time to get your stuff on the table to be searched.

I go with my niece so I have about 3 bags for them to search. My fanny pack, backpack and my camera case (inside the backpack). It gets a bit tricky trying to get everything onto the table and opened for them and not hold up the line of people. Oh and a stroller to push.

Security can (and should) be VERY thorough - I just came back from 2 weeks at WDW and at least while I was in line, the security at bag check made anyone with a stroller remove everything from the stroller and place it on the table. One woman acted very annoyed that the security guard asked her to check underneath her stroller for any bags and she tried to tell him "its just diapers". "Well, yes, but I still need to inspect the bag..." the guard said.

I would suggest OP that you try to make things as easy as possible for the guards.

One thing I DID notice which was disappointing is the number of people that the CMs allowed in with rolling backpacks and coolers. DD and I nearly fell over a few of them.

Every time I've been there, it was a very cursory check, but you did absolutely have to remove all bags and put them on the counter. I don't carry a picnic lunch into the parks, but I do often have a package of peanut butter crackers, and no one has ever said anything.

You're allowed to bring in food. No straws at AK. No glass bottles for all the parks. As I said earlier, I'm not sure about baby bottles.

They do check all bags, but they let you take in snacks, drinks etc. On our last few trips, I started packing everything in clear ziploc bags. I was able to push stroller up to guard and without removing any bags from the stroller just told them "here's the diapers, here's the snacks, here's the change of clothes, here's the raingear" while pointing to pockets on back and understorage bin. If you are neat and organized and they can see what is in there you probably won't have to pull everything out, saving the hassle of taking bags out, opening them and stuffing them back while lots of people are waiting.
