Stroller ? and what to buy

As most know my DS is 3 yrs old and autistic. We are in search of a new stroller that he can use for the next few years while we go to WDW and on the airplane several times a year. It needs to be lightweight but durable. Room to grow and with a canopy.

The state is going to pay for this if approved, so what is the best stroller? What would you buy if you could have any stroller.

Look at the Maclaren Strollers- most are fairly light and hold up to a 55lb child.

This is what I use for my son who it 7 1/2, I have had it for three years. I got it just for Disney World. My insurance paid for it. The hood was seperate but it was also covered by the insurance. I am happy with it. I put it in a stroller bag when we travel on the plane.

AdaptiveMall.com is a good place to look, even if you are not going to buy from them. They have a lot of information and you can compare the available things well there.
They have a category of lightweight travel chairs and also a category of strollers and pushchairs.. Some recline, others don't (like the Maclaren Major - which is basically a large size umbrella stroller). Many have a canopy as an option.

Thanks Sue, I really appreciate the help. We are trying desperately to get this done before our trip but nothing moves fast here, especially the system.

DD is seven; we've had hers since she was about 3.5, and it has held up beautifully. The basket for storage underneath is extra, but I couldn't do without it. We don't have the canopy or the leg wrap and get along fine without them. My only wish for the Maclaren is that the foot rest was a little easier to deal with. It's not unmanageable, but definitely requires two hand to take on and off.

I also have the basket underneath and it is a big help. I have the canopy but will have to tell you I don't ever use it. I took it to Disney one year and it was a big pain. It doesn't fold in any way. I put it in my luggage and it broke. They did replace it without any problem. I did pick up one of the net bags to hang on the back and that also helps a lot I can throw things in there. I got that in the $ store. I also agree with the foot rest it is a pain.
