String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

That is one hum dinger of a story!!! Hope your finger is ok though. Good luck with your dinner.

Doe, and any other WISHER out there, I would love to make a dinner for you. Anytime you're anywhere near Detroit, open invitation.

I was really geeked going into this dinner. I tried on some of my old clothes. Most are too big. I settled on tights, a black suede short skirt (not quite a mini), and a pretty red sweater. I felt pretty good about how I looked. Then THEY got to my home. It turns out that Mikey(What 35 year old goes by Mikey?) practically invited himself to dinner. Patty never wanted to come, and she was not gracious about it.

Mikey asked how much I had lost, so I told him. She comes back with,"My God, you must have been HUGE." Hello, you are in my home. All through dinner I hear,"Well, I don't think this sauce is quite seasoned right. You know I make my own pasta. I don't think that this squash would measure up. I generally don't serve ice cream to guests."

I kept my mouth shut. I was fuming. Won just about killed the woman. Katie even commented, "She's not very happy."

Thank you for letting me vent. I am feeling much better, and I may be able to sleep now. I hope everyone else had a better evening than I did.

Beth

Beth, I would have GUSHED over your gorgeous outfit and RAVED about your wonderful dinner and THANKED you profusely for having me over on such short notice!

Bet your DH feels bad for putting you through all that - sorry it didn't go better.

If I'm ever anywhere near Detroit.....I'll let you know!

Oh Beth~
Sorry to hear about your evening! Your dinner sounds wonderful! I hope that you are able to relax and sleep tonight! Have a much better day tomorrow!!:sunny:

Geez. What nerve. I bet she was pretty and thin too. With friends like us you certainly don't need to worry about her.

:grouphug:

from all your friends at WISH

I'm over it now. DH and I had a good laugh last night. We thought we could cpmpare her to Petunia Dursley from the Harry Potter series. It is a pretty good approximation. Now that I'm not ready to tear her head off, I realize the fact that Mikey liked what I made, made her insecure. She doesn't work, no kids. Her life is Mikey. I can now say I pity her, but she won't have a 2nd invite.

It's amazing what some seep can do for your outlook.
:sunny:
Beth

aunt petunia!!! she sounds *just* like her! (i'm in love with the harry potter series :)). how horrendous. it's really sad that some people out there are such miserable people that they have to take it out on others. i'm glad that you and dh got to have a laugh over it though. amazing, the nerve of some people.

i think your outfit sounded radiant, and you meal sounded delicious. i'll definitely stop by for some home cooking if i'm ever in the area :teeth:

oh, and the cucumber pantsing story, i just could not pass that up! now that's good stuff :hyper:

hope the rest of your day stays :sunny:

OMG Beth! The cucumber pantsing story is just too funny!!! What a mental picture I have right now! BTW, is your finger okay? I hope so!;)
What ungracious guests (or I suppose Guest with no s!) That is just terrible. But I am sure you looked wonderful and the food was delicious. I'm glad DH saw it for what it was and shared a laugh with you!;)
I hope your day today is a great one! Enjoy!:jester:

Thanks everyone. I can laugh about it now. I think it's my Irish blood. I get angry quicky, blow up, then move on. DH humors me, and Katie already knows when "Mommy needs her timeout." My finger is fine. I have a Minnie Mouse bandaid n it because we don't seem to stock plain ones anymore.

I've gotten away from posting menus lately. It's been hit or miss.
Breakfast was a slice of lc peanut butter toast and green tea.

Lunch was some cole slaw made with splenda, left over spaghetti squash marinara, and water. Believe it or not, DD asked for the cole slaw and squash for lunch.

Dinner will be a salad from McDonald's. We're doing a playdate at the playscape. At least my clean house won't be destroyed.

Snack will be strawberries and whipped cream. YUM!

I've only had 1 liter water so far, not good.

I'll make a veggie quiche tonight for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. Dinner will be grilled salmon. Lent will be tricky. I've figured that I'll read a passage and some form of exercise EVERY day for Lent. About the only thing I could give up is my ice cream, and it keeps me on plan. Besides I only eat it 1 or 2 times a week, not too much of a sacrifice.

I figure this will be my last Fat Tuesday when I'm fat.

Beth

Oh, my goodness, I just read your unsavory experience with your dinner 'guests.' Talk about rude! What does she mean, " You must have been huge"? I've heard similar comments and I just chalk it up to the fact that some people just don't have anything nice to say because they're insecure about themselves. I just know you're looking fabulous dahling!::yes::

Oh, about the Costco pork roast. Just a slight warning, it was a bit on the salty side for my taste, so if you're used to low salt, beware. Other than that it was very well seasoned and sooo easy to prepare, just pop in a 350 degree oven for about an hour and a half.

I've finally caught up on your journal...

You've had an interesting week. I'm filing away your experience with the last minute, ungracious, rude dinner guest for when my DH decides to surprise me with last minute plans. If you can live through it - I can live through it! (or perhaps tell him your story and avoid it alltogether.)

Beth...I think it's time for new blue jeans. If your DH can pants you in the kitchen, they are just way too big! Time to give them up, as soft and comfy and broken in as jeans can be. Or at least have them taken in at the waist!

Congrats on your continuing weight loss - with your schedule and the health issues you've been handling you are doing great. I promise to say hello to Mickey for you.

You will all be happy to know, I am now wearing belts. I can't afford new clothes everytime I drop a size. Belts it is. I will need new clothes for Spring/Summer. Woohoo, Shopping!

Just a qick update before I head to church. We ended up at the mall for our playdate. There is a playscape for the kids. As Katie puts it, "I like playing with the giant hotdog" I'm in trouble when she's a teen.;) It was fun. The kids played until exhaustion set in. The Moms chatted. I ended up having a blackened chicken Ceasar salad. It was horrible, but lc. I had 1/2 cup ice cream while I watched American Idol. This week was awesome. Latoya's a lock. Then off to bed. Good thng too. DD got me up at 530. I've had 1.5 liters of water, done the 3 mile WATP, 2 loads of laundry. Breakfast was toast and coffee. I'm going to Curves today. 2 workouts in one day. I've also got parent/teacher conferences at DD's preschool. I'm having a hard time taking that seriously. She's 3.5 yrs old. It should be interesting to get another person's opinion of my angel.;)

I've gotta run. I'll try to check in on other's journals later. Take care and enjoy your day.

:sunny:
Beth

Beth, your committment to exercise is AMAZING!! 2 workouts in 1 day!! Add that into everything else you get done - WOW! Make sure you take time to rest a little, OK?

Your Katie sounds like such a cutie! I bet she's adorable! I really did learn a lot at those preschool parent-teacher conferences, believe it or not - hope it turns out to be a good experience for you.

I'm going to go pick up some of those RS lc mint chocolates - now I gotta know if they'll affect me the same way as the pecan delights did. I felt fine after eating them, but I did have a bit of a gas problem for a few hours. I was glad I ate them AFTER my big meeting....LOL!

Have a great day, Beth! :sunny:

Hi Beth!
Belts are a good thing! I bet that you can't wait to go shopping for some Spring and Summer clothes! WOOHOO!:Pinkbounc My DD is almost 3.5 and she says some pretty interesting things too! Must be that age...;) Hope your conference is a good one! Have a gr8 day!:sunny:

the belt is definitely a good idea. maybe i should get one of them. much cheaper than buying a whole new wardrobe for every size you drop!

your dd sounds absolutely adorable! giant hot dog, aaaaahahhaha :teeth: glad you had a good time even though you did not enjoy your salad :bounce:

and great job getting in 2 workouts today!!! and with all the other stuff you've got to do too. sheesh, you'll be a busy bee today! hope the conferences go well at dd's preschool. i'm sure they love her as much as you do :) (ok, well, no way they could love her as much as you, but you know what i mean :))

have a great day today :sunny:

Yeah, I think you need a belt Beth! :teeth: Good idea! hahaha

You look like you are having an awesome week. Good for you. I'm sure your efforts are going to be rewarded at next weigh-in or measurement.

preschool conference sounds like a hoot. Can't wait to here what you learn from it.;)
Have a wonderful day Beth! Enjoy :sunny: !!

Just a quick update before I watch AI. I did go to Curves. I did 3.5 circuits. I almost died on my 4th round of squats, but did it. Parent/teacher conferences went as expected. Katie is developmentally right on track and excels verbally. I knew that. I was a little worried about how she interacts with others r/t her being an only child. Apparently she does really well in a group, and no one has ever called her shy.

Lunch was a spinach mushroom and cheese omelet and water.
Dinner was a salad. I wasn't hungry.
I have plenty of carbs left if I need a snack, but I think I'm headed to bed early tonight. I need to make up a few hours of zzz's.

I hope everyone has a nice evening.
Beth

hey beth, i'm glad to hear that the conferences went well and that katie is a normal kid :)

hope you got some extra sleep and feel extra rested today. have a great day :sunny:

My sister called this morning. I had promised her our crib. Do you think Dad can pick it up today, he'll be there at 11AM.n Ugh. Thanks foir giving me 1 hr notice. A visit from my dad involves lunch, a trip to Costco, and a trip to our local specialty market. I did have other plans, but oh well. He just left. I love my Dad, but we drive each other crazy.

Breakfast: 1 slice peanut butter toast and green tea.
Lunch: Chili's lc chicken fajitas and water.
Dinner: Chicken stir fry.

I'll have to exercise tonight. I didn't get a chance this morning.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'll check in later.
Beth

Beth, I have to say, there is nothing worse then having your day turned upside down at the last minute. oh well, you seem to have dealt with it very well. WTG!:teeth:
Food choices look good. Get that exercise in along with your water and your all set!!!:smooth:
Have a great day!
