String's Atkin's Journal (Please Comment)

Your schedule amazes me! :) I agree with Doe - don't over do it on Sunday but walk as far as you can. You might surprise yourself!

~Amanda

 Hi Beth,
I hope you're getting some rest in today. Take it easy and have a great day :flower: .

Hi Beth
I'm so glad to hear you are OP and doing well. Poor Katie, will the breathing treatments last long? My heart goes out to you, you sound overworked and underslept!

Sundie

Why do I get the feeling you are going to try and walk the entire half, even if I offer to do it for you? 'Cause you are stubborn like me! :teeth:

Congrats for staying OP. Remember to take care of yourself and get the rest you need. You need to stay healthy. :)

Good morning, Beth. How are you doing? Let me join the list of WISHers and tell you not to overdo it this weekend! I don't want you to burn yourself out. . .you did your 13 mile walk a few months ago--you don't have anything to prove. You can show your solidarity w/o hurting yourself, you know! There, that's my "mom" talk for the a.m.

Have a good Tuesday. Take care of yourself--go to Starbucks and have a s.f. vanilla skim latte on me.

Hugs, honey--
Erin

Dear Beth, I hope you got lots of well-deserved and much-needed rest yesterday!

I'm sending you some warm :sunny: and a big :) for your day! Know that there are lots of WISHers, me included, who are sending good thoughts your way!

Hi All,

We were having problems with our internet. Comcast was so unhelpful.

Work was hard. We lost a 22 year old pregnant woman. She was an overdose, and it was jusst horrible.

Katie cooperated and took a good nap. I was OP, no exercise. All in all, a decent Monday for me.

Today I take Katie for Dance, and we get to see what her costume for recital will be. We also have to go to Costco. We will hit the Y this afternoon. I am only doing cardio for the next 2 weeks. I am hoping some of the New Year's resolutioners will clear out. I hate waiting for machines. I want to get some of my endurance back before I start lifting again. I need to focus on my cardio for awhile.

I PROMIS I WILL NOT OVERDO IT THIS WEEKEND. I will do what I am capable of, but not push it. i acknowledge I have been ill, and I can't do what I could 6 weeks ago. I also don't work Saturday, so I won't be walking after a 12 hour shift. My tentative goal is 5 or 6 miles. Thank you to everyone for your concern. I have no plans to end up ill again.

BTW, Won did have a cold, and that is why he was sleeping. It is the "I am sick, so I can't function." thing that was frustrating me. He is much better, and I am happy he is back at work.

I will get to journals this afternoon/evening. Have a great day.
Beth

Beth, how awful to have to deal deal with losing a young, pregnant patient. :guilty: I give you all the credit in the world to deal with things like that up close every day. ::yes::

I think you have a GREAT plan to build your endurance by sticking with the cardio for a few weeks. I am sure you will be back to full strength in no time, so don't worry about it too much.

I just paid another "installment" on Michelle's dance costumes last night. Solo was $122, Duet was $105. I am not sure, but I think I have about 2 or 3 more costumes to pay for. :earseek: It gets very pricey if they get into the competitive dance. But it does wonders for her self esteem. Goodness, I never would have been able to do a dance solo at 12 yrs old!!!

I hope you have a wonderful, OP day. Squeeze a nap in there okay?!

TTFN-
Sharon :flower3:

Have we been mothering you too much? I know you know when to stop, and when you can keep going. You are doing just fine.

How crazy is it at the Y? I am imagining tons of bodies, as people sign up because it is the new year. We have belonged to a fitness center before, but it was at my DH's work so the number of people was usually steady and controlled. DH's new job doesn't offer a workout facility so we really need to join somewhere (he is ready to get back to his workout routine) but we aren't sure where to go. Nothing is very convenient, but there are 2 Y's nearby, as well as a place called The Lodge. None of these are on the way to work (dh) or school (myself) so we haven't bitten the bullet and joined. I hoping by February most of the resolution people will be gone. What do you think?

I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I know everyone is just concerned, and I really appreciate it. I was just trying to reassure everyone that I won't overdo it. I am truly blessed to have so many people who care and worry about me. I am sorry I sounded ungrateful.

Beth

Beth - Isn't it funny how when men are sick, they have to sleep all the time and act like babies, but when WOMEN are sick, especially mom's, we still have to clean house, wash clothes and cook dinner???? :earseek:

I wasn't offended! I just didn't want smother you with concern.
With the written word, it is hard to know how things are taken at the other end of the computer. I just wanted you to know that I am concerned about you, support you, but certainly don't want to 'tick' you off. ;) I know when people start getting on me to... rest more, sit down, stop doing that... I tend to get annoyed instead of feeling cared for. Just trying to avoid doing the same thing to you. That's all. And you know how when you try to explain something, you feel like you are making worse instead of better? I think I might be doing that too!

So.... how's the weather? It is only 40º here and very rainy! I can't believe it was just in the upper 60ºs a couple of days ago!

I am stealing Beth's journal for a minute......Terry your smilies just crack me up!

Beth you didn't sound ungrateful at all. You are a doll and very thoughtful. Don't give it a second thought. :flower1:

Terry is definately the queen of the smilies around here.

Yesterday went well. I did 2.5 miles on the glider without killing myself. Food was OP too.
B: string cheese.
S: Grande coffee.
L:cheeseburger patty with A1
S: celery with Bleu Cheese dressing mixed with Buffalo Wing sauce
D: Salad with ranch and pizza casserole.

I also made a huge batch of chicken noodle soup for Katie. I froze the leftovers in small batches, so she will eat something besides fried/ffast food with Daddy on the weekends. Won does 3 things. He grills, fries, and nukes. At least this way, she'll occasionally have something nutritious.

Last night was eventful. Katie seems to have inherited another one of my traits. Sleepwalking. She was wandering around upstairs totally asleep and talking about going to her recital. When I picked her up, she woke up. She peed all over both of us. It was a total startle thing. She doesn't remember any of it. I of course slept hardly at all, listening for her to climb out of bed. Also, despite my mentioning it to Won, the battery on our thermostat ran out last night. When I woke up, it was 52 degrees in the house. Mommy and Katie are a bit blue this morning. Won is on his knees begging forgiveness. I could have changes the batteries myself, but he considers it one of his jobs. He got out of bed an hour early to do it.

Today I am taking Katie to school, and I am hitting the Y. I will do a mile on the glider. I will then do an unset amount of time on the treaddie. I do think that by the end of January, it will be much less crowded. Fortunatley, the only people who usee my gliders are the trainers.

I also need to start laundry, clean the bathrroms and living room, and figure out dinner.

Have a great day everyone,
Beth

Katie sleepwalks????!!!! Oh my!! Beth, you certainly have your hands full! Glad to hear she doesn't remember it. Probably best that way.

Way to go on taking it easy at the Y! You're stilling going but you're staying smart about not overdoing it. You know us Mom-types can't help but fuss over you. We all know that we're better at nurturing everyone else around us and not ourselves. You're doing a great job of taking care of you!

Hope you warm up!! :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: That should help!

I use to sleep walk alot especially in Jr. High and High school - now it just happens when I am really stressed out about something. :cool1:

My husband only does 2 things for cooking - nukes and bakes. So he can make a frozen pizza or microwave burritos or hotdogs  I hate asking him to cook because lord knows what I am going to get but I  him anyway.

I hope your toes have thawed out! 52 degrees is very cold!!

~Amanda

Wow, never a dull moment, huh? I'm sorry you suffered the battery outage, but I am so glad you shared it in your journal. I need to check my batteries. I don't want a 52 deg morning!!!! Thanks for the heads up.

Last night wasn't a good night for sleep, I guess. My daughter woke me up at 12:30 "needing to talk" and then my son had a bloody nose at 5 AM. :confused3

Sundie

I hope you warmed up quickly. Boy is that cold! I will have to have my husband check our thermostat to see if we have a battery. I don't think we do but I could be wrong. I would hate for that to happen! Have a good day and good workout.
