Strict on Height Limit?

We didn't know, had never been before and DS was obviously upset. Funny thing was we really thought it was no biggie because the doctor's office the month before measured DS as 44.5 inches. Second CM said "he's not even close" when I said "What?" He was maybe 1/8 inch below their marker though I don't think he understood to stand up straight, I think he was trying to keep his head away from the bar.

But the doctor's office is not the Disney office.

The thing is for everyone - do you have a cell phone? What time does it say on the cell phone? Check your oven clock, your microwave clock, your car clock or even your wristwatch - what time does it say?

A man with two watches never knows what time it is. A person going to Disney World with a child "just about at height level" never knows that height is until BOTH those measurements are met when that child is going on the ride.

Kind of like you relying on one time piece to get you somewhere and you are denied because their timepiece says something different.

Here is another point of reference. Someone posted on one of these threads that due to some health issues their child had to visit a number of different Dr offices over a week or so. You would think they have some sort of calibrated stick but each office measured the child at a different height. As I recall the difference was about an inch.

But I'm pretty sure its been posted on this thread but if your child has never been measured this way they may shrink away from the bar. The first time I measured my DN at around 3 years old with a folding rule, as I approached her she moved away from me and looked like I was going to hit her with it. :(

Not the best analogy because there IS one official time, my phone automatically syncs to it. I set my car, alarm, etc to the same clock. They are all the same.

Point is, a ruler should be standard. Doctor's offices usually have triple beam balance scales as they are most accurate. Most of these scales have a height bar as well. If I order custom cabinets & measure 60 inches & the manufacturer makes 61 inch cabinets, not gonna fit.

Anyway, the point was I am not a veteren Disney visitor. Had no idea, like many, that it was such a big deal. No idea I had to warn my kid he could be turned away at a second measure. No idea that the CM wouldn't give him a second chance to stand up straight. I understand the importance of the height measurement but wish by son hadn't been crushed.

DS got turned away because he hit the bar and didn't surpass it after basically shoving his head under the bar. They are strict but it's always going to depend on the place, time of day and CM. DS is finally 48" but I'm not holding my breath for this trip. At one local place he was at least an inch over the supposedly 48" mark the next day he went to the local park and got turned away from one ride at 48" limit just to be let on the next and when I measure DS at home I do it without shoes and he reaches 48". My guess since she is measuring under its probably a no but it doesn't hurt to ask. Just tell her that it might be a no beforehand.

It would suck though to be told yes than wait 30+ minutes than be told no.
