Hi everyone -

I did my first half at the princess last year, and I finished (all that matters to me :rotfl:)

In late august I was training for my 2nd half on October 3rd. I started having bad shin pain in my left leg. Everything I read about stress fractures I knew I had one............so like a fool I kept training until Sept when finally I could not due to the pain.

I decided in Sept, I was done training yet still continued to Run the October 3rd Half.

Bottom line I went to my Urgent Care Center and was confirmed to have a stress fracture :confused3:confused3 Really, Really ---- I already knew that !:laughing: How stupid was I - was all I kept on thinking.

So for the whole month of Sept I did not run, I only ran the half on Oct 3rd and then nothing to now.

I go to the dr next week the 11th and I am scared of the recovery. I have not even registered for the Princess out of fear I wont be able to train.

Anyone have any history with stress fractures and how long until you were up and running.............sorry no pun intended :love:

I have been recovering from a stress fracture in my right pelvic bone since July. I did not run for 3 months. I have been seeing the sports medicine Dr. about every 3 weeks since July. I also, went to see a physical therapist twice a week for a month. I just got the ok, from my Dr. to start running again with strict guidelines. I have been running for about 2 weeks and I am noticing some twinges in the fracture area again. I really hope it is nothing, but I cannot be too careful. You will need to listen to your Dr., but I would not count on running the half in Feb. My Dr. told me no races for at least the next 3 months. Stress fractures can take up to a year to heal 100%. This is my first and hopefully my last. It is very frustrating, I was running 6-7 miles when I discovered the injury and now I am back to running 3 miles. However, I will take that over not running at all. Sorry to be so long winded. Everyone is different and heals differently, so you really need to take the doctor's advice. Good Luck!

You could check about doing "deep water running" where you use an aqua vest and do a "running" workout in the deep end of a pool. I don't know how that would do for training you for a half, but it's something to ask about.
