It seems that what constitutes a "shortcake" varies by what region of the country you live in. For me, strawberry shortcake is made with either yellow cake or angel food cake with strawberries in sauce smothered all over the cake and then topped with vanilla ice cream.
However, I know other parts of the country use biscuits for the "shortcake" or sponge cake, or even pie crust, and top it with whipped cream, or cream that hasn't been whipped, or nothing at all.
So, how does HDDR make their strawberry shortcake? And what is your favorite method of preparing strawberry shortcake? And what part of the country were you raised in?
Just curious!

and Hddr's is like pre-packaged cheap cafeteria-style yuckiness!
If I remember correctly, I think HDDR's is cake. No ice cream, just whipped cream. DBF and I like it.
