Strategy to maximize tier 1 FPs?

This is perhaps an obvious question, but I am wondering what the best FP+ strategy is to get more than one tier 1 FP+ now that you can get additional FPs after you use your three.

Specifically (but strategies can be more general) we are going to DHS for Star Wars weekend. We're using our Tier 1 FP+s for the Shows (Stars of the Saga, A Short Story, etc) Fri, Sat and Sun. I'm 30 weeks pregnant so I can't ride much of anything, and we plan to do a decent amount of bumming around the resort. In part because I am pregnant, we do NOT want to stand around in heat for long periods to stake out areas for viewing parades, etc. but I'd really like to see Fantasmic--alas, that is a tier one.

To complicate things, we don't really care about the other FPs, but I know you need to get to using the 3rd FP to advance to get to pick another FP (tier 1). The shows are usually early afternoon (3pm/4pm).

Should we book two tier 2s in the morning, and do we have to actually USE them for them to cycle through as our three? I feel awful booking slots we aren't going to take when someone else might use them. Is there any chance if our last of the three original FP+s is used at 3pm that we can still snag Fantasmic at a kiosk?

Any other ideas/considerations? I love the 'game theory' of fast pass, they've just blown it wide open with this new stuff.

Arrive to the park early, stay late, park hop, F! Dining Experience, etc. There are alot of ways to tour and reduce wait times.

I can't urge enough that people really need to change the old way of thinking that the more FPs you get the less you wait in line.

If you want to wait less time, likely now it will cost more money. Park Hop, stay on-site, Dining Experiences etc.
