Strategy for mine train?

Would there be a line for mine train first thing early entry morning?

You'll notice many people headed straight there from rope drop. There will be a line forming at that time but it's moving quickly as they begin to fill the queue. Definitely a great time to line up as long as you're early. Another great time to check is during late night extra magic hours, midnight-2:00 AM.

If you go straight there (no taking photos, stopping for coffee etc.) it's a good strategy! Or like PP said during EMH at night, or the last half hour of the park being open.

The other good time for stand by is during the Electric Light Parade. We waited about 20 minutes.

Personally, I think getting a FP+ would be better. At RD hit some of the other attractions you want to see while the masses are heading to 7DMT.
Last year our strategy was to head to Adventureland and work clockwise.....we rode PoC, Splash, Big Thunder, HM..... without FP+ and with short waits (this was mid-October). Then we had FP+ for Peter Pan, 7DMT, and again for Splash (DD's favorite).

FP I would reccomended. I would not spend more than 15 minutes in a stand by line for SDMT, just because I wasn't a really big fan how short it was..but the animatronics or whatever they're called were amazing... Amazing imagineering.

I always use FP+ for SDMT, I find it to be the longest wait time for a ride in MK.

Depends on the time of year. When we were last there late March/early April the line was still over an hour during the parade and fireworks.

Definitely a good idea to get FP+ for 7DMT. Note that they could be all gone more than 30 days in advance.

Besides FP+, first thing in the morning is best. Get there early, no need to run, follow the crowd, stay to the right around the castle. The line will look ridiculously long, but because no one will be using FP during EMH, the line will move quick. On our last trip, we were there at rope drop, did not rush, and only waited 10 minutes. Another morning, we didn't get out of our ADR until 9am, but the park had actually opened around 8:45am, we waited about 25 minutes.

Other best bet is right before park close. Posted wait 40 minutes standby, 10 minutes before park close, we could see the line was much shorter, only waited 10 minutes. Again helped because no one is returning with FP at that time.

Also interesting, we were also surprised last trip that 7DMT continued running in steady rain. CM said they will only shut down for lightning in the area.

I have now done 7DMT 4 different times on AM EMH mornings. We have always been near the front of the pack, but never really at the very front, and have never waited more than 5-10 minutes. One time we were close enough to the front to be in about the second cycle of the ride.

If you get to the MK about 30 minutes before the early opening, position yourself at the right side arch, and move along with the crowd, you should get on and off the ride in about 10 minutes. In that first 30 minutes or so, I think the posted wait time is largely meaningless. Based on the times we were there, and from observing times on other days, they ALWAYS start the posted wait time at 45 minutes, and it obviously doesn't take nearly that long for the first few hundred people who get there. If you aren't in that first few hundred you will likely have a wait of 30 minutes or longer.

Getting a FP will obviously avoid all that, but if you want to use your FPs at a different park later in the day like we do, the EMH rope drop is a good way to get a ride with a short wait and still have time to do a few more thjngs in that first hour. We have been able to do 7DMT, Space Mountain, Buzz, and Peter Pan during the EMH, leaving ourselves in position to head to Thunder and Splash Mountains when or shortly after the park opens to all guests. If you want to stay in the Fantasyland area, you can do that too and do several more rides before the lines build up.

Posted wait or actual wait? Last summer, we found the posted wait listed at 80 minutes with an actual wait time of 20 minutes for our first ride then 10 for a 2nd trip. This was during the 2nd parade.

We felt that 2 rides in a half hour was a pretty efficient use of our time.

Well I didn't wait in the line to test the accuracy of the posted wait time, but the line was all the way outside of the queue and down to the tea cups every night we were there. It did drop to 40 minutes around 11:30 PM.

Like most people above said there will be a line as many people have the same idea. Lots of people are gong to be heading straight there at Rope Drop but as long as you are going straight there and not taking any pit stops you shouldn't be waiting very long. There probably wont be a line per se as you'll be walking with the crowd through the queue, it should be semi continuous. Just head straight there at rope drop (the earlier you get there the closer you'll be to the front) and walk quickly (don't run!). Speed walk and try to navigate weaving through people lol.

When I went last year I was there a little after wishes and the line was getting shorter and shorter. Around 12am I only waited for 20 minutes and that was in July.
