Strategy for 17 day trip

Yeah, yeah, I know, we're super lucky to be able to take a trip this long. Here's how that works out. My wife works for the same school district that our kids attend, so that's super easy, they're on summer vacation already. My job offers some flexibility for me to work remote...I currently work from home one day per week. So we're leaving after my day in the office next Thursday. I'll work remote from the townhouse we're renting on Friday and the following Monday and Tuesday. Those days will be evening trips to the parks. Then I'm taking off Wed-Fri of that week and all the following. That then rolls into the 4th of July holiday weekend, so it all works out. We're AP holders and stay off property, so we have plenty of experience in the parks. However, with the off site AP rules for FP+, we're encountering a new wrinkle in strategy we haven't before, given that we can only have 7 days of FP+. So my question isn't really about FP+, we've got that down pat. It's more about attacking things without having FP+.

Our AP includes park hopper and water parks. We've got the first 7 days planned and scheduled and will hit all 4 parks and both water parks in that time. We had initially mapped out the remaining 10 days and still want to stick to that schedule, but without being able to FP+ now, we know we'll have to be flexible. Thankfully, in those first 7 days we've got FP+ for the attractions the kids really want...7DMT, Soarin, Test Track, TSMM, RnR, Jungle Book, just to name a few. I know once we use up our first day of FP+, we'll then be able to book more. However, given that it'll only be 7 days out (so on June 17th after we use existing passes, we can book June 24th), our selection will be somewhat limited. So we're anticipating having to do a lot of things non-FP+. Since we're not staying on property, we can't do EMH. Thoughts on how you'd attack it?

Certainly RD is one way. Late night is another...I know we can hit attractions during fireworks and parades and/or right at park closing. I think it'd be a challenge for us to do park closing one night then RD the next morning. By nature, we're not night owls (my wife and I get up at 4am during normal work weeks), so while we want to do some nights, we'd prefer to have our balance more toward daytime. Any other tricks besides RD at parks that don't have EMH that day? We're going to try to get as much with FP+ as we can, but not optimistic.

If all 17 days are in a park, you should be able to see everything on your must do list i imagine. As you said though, RD and late are best times to hit rides for shorter lines. We have friends down in Orlando and they said it isnt usually a big deal to grab FP 7 days out or even night before. Often times maybe limited, but unless you want to visit A&E i dont think you will have too much trouble getting what you want.
