Stranger Things Season 4

Does anyone know if this is the final season? I know Netflix does not like too many seasons.

There is one more season planned. However, we have been warned that it will probably take some time, and when they come back there will be a time jump (?!?). So don't expect a new season, this time next year. Expect 2024 and be happy if it arrives earlier.

I would guess the time jump because they "kids" are growing so fast!

Yes, that's what they said was the reason. But given the cliffhanger type situation in Hawkins in the final minutes, coming back in say 1989 is not my preference. It's not like in previous seasons where you could presume that people were doing normal people things and supernatural stuff wasn't going on.

I did watch the last two and, WOW, they were great! I was nervous about this season, but they really nailed it!

I was talking to someone over the weekend who didn't like Season 4 much. She said, "It just ends!" Then I asked if she had watched the final two as they just came out on Friday, and she did not know about them at all. I wonder if that'll be an issue for Netflix if your average viewer didn't realize that the season was split.

The last season was great but the last 20 minutes of the final episode were a noodle scratcher. It just fizzled out. It's like they ran out of ideas or steam. NOT sure what happened with the Duffer brothers.

I had that same sense. I paused it at one point and was very surprised at how much time was still left. Of course, a 2 1/2 hour finale seemed a bit extreme anyway.

And having 3-4 different groups doing various things at different places became pretty convoluted. It was still entertaining, but just “busy” or something…

I enjoyed it overall.

It was great to see the Mike/Will/Argyle/Jonathan subplot finally pick up. Really enjoyed the final battle for the Hawkins team in the UD and Hopper's showdown in Russia.
Figures that Vecna was still alive. Come Season 5, I really don't want there to be a repeat of Season 2's "Will becomes possessed" storyline, nor the same schtick with Max in his place.

The closing credits feature "Spellbound" by Siouxsie and The Banshees. I wonder if they're going to get a jump in popularity too.

With so many characters, I didn't mind everyone split-up into group subplots. Especially necessary with Hopper, as he was already established as being in Russia at the end of last season. Not to mention there had to be certain character development moments between pairs, like Max/Lucas, Jonathan/Will, etc.

I'm sure by word of mouth alone people will know, but Netflix also has notifications about when the new episodes are available.

That's what my friends and I call "Return of the King-ing it." There was just so much coda because with so many characters, wrapping up each one's emotional journey is difficult. In my opinion, after the climax, you have to wrap it up pretty quickly. Ideally, some of the reunions should have happened before the climax.

Love ST4. Great season. Can't wait to see how they wrap things up. I think it will be polarizing like the finales of most popular shows are. My son said he saw an interview where the Duffers said that the ending will be very dark and even made a reference to a SW Rouge 1 style ending where beloved characters that you want to survive this won't. I'm sure there will be lots of tears and outrage.

The one thing that I find really weird about ST since season 1 is Will. I think they have been struggling to find a way to keep Will incorporated since season 1. Even in Season 2 with the Mind Flayer storyline, it seemed forced in ways. I think it would have been better to kill him off or to just make him a more substantial part of the team and less of a tortured soul, so to speak. Maybe it will all make sense in the final season as the Flayer is obviously the big bad, so maybe Will's storyline will be integral and wrap things up for his arch as well as the series. Will in seasons 3 & 4 is just Meh

Yeah he was a fifth wheel this season. I know he was there to give Mike some support, but it felt like a shoehorned task. That aside, the actor pulled off a great performance with Will's inner struggle, and I liked the moment he had with his brother. Maybe that will be addressed in Season 5 (along with the barber thing), perhaps it's something Vecna might even see in Will to use against him.

Vecna's very much like a Freddy Krueger/Pennywise. The spooky old house felt like something from IT, and of course the "dream" killings. And hey, since Obi Wan's been streaming, I guess see a little Vader in Vecna's physical transformation and his "force/psychic" battles with Eleven.

I loved the Hopper in Russia storyline but I don't think they needed to have him and the group there impacting the Hawkins fight from Russia at the same time. It was weird and forced. They should have just had him escape and destroy the gate in Russia and go home

I agree, the scene in the finale with Will and Jonathon was a good scene. As well as the scene with Will and Mike in the van and Jonathon watching in the rear view. Well done all around. I'm all for getting rid of the bowl cut for season 5. There will be a time jump, so hopefully someone will tell Will to update his hairstyle. LOL Faded side part, combed over with frosted tips, very late 80's early 90's and would fit with his characters arch and sexual ambiguity.

I also drew comparisons to the force during the mind fights. Season 4 was very reminiscent of the Nightmare films. Such great call outs to the films and aesthetics that inspired the Duffers.
